Blue ray will not play dvd but will play blue ray samsung db p1500

go to internet and get the new driver for your blue ray playes follow the instructions and down load it to your player i used a flash drive to load the driver up date . that fixed that problem some still takes a minit or so to load the movie but to is alot faster than before i could not get some movies to load till i updated my driver hope that fixes your problem good luck

Try unplugging it for a few minutes to reset the device.

The player needs a firmware update. Your issue is a direct result of this. Go to the Samsung website to access the appropriate download or simply connect your player to your modem with an ethernet cable (TV needs to remain connected to player for menu navigation) and update firmware.

Connect the ethernet cable to the backside of the samsung bluray 1500 player ethernet connection with the bluray player power on with no disk & it will automatically update your bluray. It should be work fine after update your bluray. Good Luck!

This is all to common problem and indicates a Laser Pickup Assembly issue. The blue ray require more precision and velocity to produce the higher resolution that is demanded to play them, either way the assembly must be replaced or a new machine bought.

Happening to me as well.. I have burned dvd-r that I made myself.. and it will not play.. I have all kinds of different dvd-r's and none of them worked.. ran the latest firmware.. nothing!

most of the times a firmware upgrade would fix this problem.

when the samsung logo doesn't come up it means there is something wrong with player's main board and it needs to be replaced with a new main board.

The non-blu-ray laser lens needs cleaning.

Nope. The laser mechanism seems to have developed a preference of its won and refuses to work with DVD media.
You have already done a firmware update so that is ng. Could be that when you updated it to play newer blue rays, the update messed up unit for dvd playback. Happens.

But do not sweat - that unit has a one year warranty - use it.
