Hi, my ps3 won't power up, no lights or fan ect... I replaced the power supply thinking t would be that but it's still no good, no power at all, checked the power lead and they seem fine. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ryan

have you tried runnning it with the top off ?
is the fan working ?
if it is, is it fast and making a noise?
that would be overheating and shutting down to prevent heating

as you said Faulty power supply, if a power supply is faulty I would just replace the whole power supply as they are cheap on ebay.

you have a power supply OCP fault.
The power supply needs to be replaced or tweaked. There is a variable resistor inside the power supply that needs to be adjusted.
Yopu PS3 is tripping the Over Current Protection fault circuit. Common problem

Try new heatsink paste on the CPU and GPU. Sounds like you are having a heat problem. Check how hot the power supply box is getting as i have replaced a few that got extremely hot and would make the PS3 shutdown, no video, frozen screen ect. If it is the power supply there are a few places you can purchase them online. Good Luck.

hi..Seems like your Power Supply went dead or either a faulty button.. Since those are touch pads those sometimes wear out. Another issue could be due to overheating..

HI, the internal power unit is damaged. it is no longer able to hold a proper current at this time. you will need to contact Sony for this repair asap, if possible.

I think it may be a problem with the motherboard cause the power light should be green from what I remember. The fan isn't even turning on either which is very suspicious. Try another power supply if you have one handy and if that fails then the motherboard is bad. Even if your fan was bad, you would normally get video anyway before a warning message about the fan would come up.

Its possible that the power supply isn't putting out all the voltages required for the ps3 to turn on. Best way to verify it is if you had another known good working power supply to swap it with. If you can swap the power supply and get the ps3 to turn on then you know your power supply is bad. If it still gives you the same problem after swapping then the main board is bad. I believe the ground should show 5 volts. if the 5 volts isn't present then the power supply is definitely bad.
