SOURCE: Auger blades won't turn

You need what they call a "friction wheel" replaced.

Vollrath granita vcbf168 3 head machine slush machine one of the augers isn't turning but can see inside the cylinder the auger drive is turning

If one of the augers in your Vollrath Granita VCBF168 3-head slush machine is not turning, but you can see that the auger drive is turning, there may be a few possible causes for this issue:
  1. Auger blade or shaft issue: Check the auger blade and shaft for any damage or obstruction. Make sure the blade is properly attached to the shaft and rotates freely. If there is any damage or blockage, you may need to replace the auger blade or shaft.
  2. Belt or pulley problem: The auger drive is typically connected to the auger itself via a belt and pulley system. Inspect the belt and pulleys to ensure they are intact and properly aligned. If the belt is worn or the pulleys are misaligned, it may prevent the auger from turning. Adjust or replace the belt or pulleys as needed.
  3. Motor malfunction: The auger drive motor could be experiencing a malfunction. Check if the motor is running smoothly and listen for any unusual sounds. If the motor is not functioning properly, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
  4. Electrical issue: Ensure that the electrical connections are secure and there are no loose or damaged wires. Check the motor's power supply and voltage to ensure it is receiving the correct amount of power. If there is an electrical problem, it may require professional repair or assistance.

1028 10hp 1994. While I was blowing driveway just quit blowing, blades are locked up. There is no snow in blades or auger, just locked up. Help

The engine still runs and ground drive works? Yes, then likely either the impeller is jammed, augers jammed, or gear case has broken.

Check the impeller to make sure a stone, stick, toy, or other hasnt wedged between impeller and housing. Same thing with augers.

You can pull shear bolts from augers and see if it impeller and gear box frees up.

The impeller should rotate back and forth some, unless gear case has jammed inside.

Both augers turn when not trying to clean snow,as soon as I try to use it and snow gets to the augers, only one auger moves on my ariens 520 snowblower

It sounds like the auger always turning is the auger engagement handle/line/connections are not adjusted correctly. They/it is too tight causing the auger to engage before it should. It may be up at the handle where you loosen a jam nut, screw in or out a threaded shaft, and retighten the jam nut. (If you have ever adjusted a bicycle brake it is similar.) (I have a craftsman, made by MTD, and I think I saw MTD also list Ariens.) Or it could be an adjustment somewhere else (but I'm not sure where).

As far as one auger moving and the other not, you may have a shear-pin (shear bolt as the manual calls them) on each side of the auger's shaft (my craftsman has one on each side), and the one on the side that stops turning is sheared off. (It moves without snow present due to the driveshaft inside the outer auger shaft turning, but it won't turn under load (snow).) You may confirm a sheared-pin by turning the machine off and try to turn the auger blade. If it turns somewhat easily, that's a bad shear pin. Remove the old shear pin. If the old one is as long as the new one, that aint the problem. The shear pin in the image is one kind. Mine appear as a straight bolt (no grooves), threaded the entire length. You will have to rotate the auger blade until it aligns with the hole in the shaft. Use a nail that fits and rotate the blade until the nail goes in. Remove the nail and screw in the shear bolt:

The auger clutch control up at the handle looks like this:

Auger Control
  • To check the adjustment of the auger control, push forward the left hand clutch grip until the rubber bumper is compressed. There should be slack in the clutch cable.
  • Release the clutch grip. The cable should be straight. Make certain you can depress the auger control grip against the left handle completely.
  • If adjustment is necessary, loosen the hex jam nut and thread the cable in (for less slack) or out (for more slack). Recheck adjustment. Tighten the jam nut when correct adjustment is reached.
Here's another view of that:

I hope the above info helps you take care of both issues.

Auger blades are spinning

sound like you might have 2 problems. If auger doesn't engage in heavy snow you probably just have ice accumulation inside the impeller. Dont try to engage until impeller is cleared of snow (shut off and unplug spark plug before cleaning) Second if blades are spinning than you must have hit something in your path and broke the shear bolt (about 2 bucks at hardware shop) remove the old bolt and replace it and it should work again if this is the problem. Good luck.

Kitchenaid KSRS25 Ice dispenser blades get stuck

Greetings,
In looking up this partial model # KSRS25, it shows you have
the model with the large ice bin inside the freezer.
My question to you is: Does the auger motor run when you
push the ice lever?
2 trouble prone parts on this model. Both in the case of NO
auger motor activation.
#1 broken pin that hold the micro-switch on to the switch bracket.
Item # 15

Next #2 and the Worst, A Broken Blue wire or wires in the wire loom
under the freezer door hinge. Un-repairable new door needed if still
available.. You have to get creative restoring the power.
So before I continue, Does the Auger motor Run?
And if it does, remove the bin and close the door switch that turns the
light off, and tape switch shut. With door open and ice cradle pushed
in watch the auger drive fork turn? Is the the key hole stripped in the
fork.(rounded out) May need the fork or motor. #9 & #2

Ardis Ice Auger

I pick up a power head from the junk yard this past weekend. The unit was made by Feldmann Mfg. and engineering. I believe this is the same company that manufactures Jiffy ice augers. I paid $3 for it. It looks like it is from the 50's or 60's. It was complete except for the auger. The motor was froze from sitting, but after disasembling, cleaning, cutting new gasket, freeing the rings and numerous other problems I got it running. I found augers in the Northern hydraulics catalog in sizes from 3" to 12". They are for earth and the 8" was $139.99. You would need to contact them for the shaft size to see if it will fit in the power head you have.
