Dialing *#*#4636#*#* AKA *#*#INFO#*#* brings up a troubleshooting/statistics menu page. Dial that and select Phone information and at the bottom you can enter the SMSC (Short Mail Service Center) number. If the phone can receive but not send SMS it could be a carrier outage or issue 90% of the time. Try to update the SMSC number and powercycle the phone and test sending SMS.
Hello friend, Yes..for this issue it would be best that your contact you carrier because your network might be blocked or locked. Your carrier can send signals to your phone and fix this issue from their base.
I had the same problem and came to this site for help but the solutions didn't solve the problem of "cannot send text message" on htc touch hd. All service numbers correct. Went to START/SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS/ADVANCED NETWORK/SMS SERVICE then changed from "gprs" to "gprs preferred". Double checked and had reverted to "GSM" but sms now works - finally!!! Hope this helps.
