There is a short in the primary part of the systems control board, and the battery gets hot because it is been loaded down. This is not cost effective to repair, it is far cheaper to replace the camera with a new one.

My kodak m863 camera wont turn on, when i press the on button it turn on then turn turns off

Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Kodak M863

Clean the contacts inside the battery compartment with a cotton swab "dampened" with rubbing alcohol. Do the same to the battery and the charger.

My kodak m863 wont let me view pics or take them

If this is a No power issue:

Make sure that you are installing a fresh/ full charge battery
Remove the battery
Clean the metal contacts on the battery using a clean cloth

Pls test with an alt. batt.
If you do not have access to a dif. battery.
Pls. take the batt out of the camera. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the batt. If not you will need to order a No power repair.

My lens won't close

My camera does the same thing. It is getting progressively worse. To get it to work, I have to open the battery door and push the battery a little and finally the camera will turn on and lens will close. Something is wrong with the connection at the terminals and I don't think its something that the owner can easily fix, but at least you can jump start the camera working again. Its just a pain to have to fiddle with it sometimes and it scares me that it might not start again one of these days. If its under warranty get it turned back it quickly.

KODAK M863 LENS STUCK

Here's what I did...Mine had the lens stuck out and would not power on. Just a green blinking for a second or two. Well, I tried twisting the lens ring closest to the camera while hitting the power button. It's kinda tricky to do...BUT, just keep at it. Mine was a $1 resale shop "find" and now it works. This worked for me. Maybe it will help you!
