Hi, I have HP LaserJet 1020 and few days ago three tiny black dots appeared on the left side of the printed pages, just by the border. The borders apper at regular intervals. I found somewhere that it could be either fuser or a drum but no more details. I put the old cartridge and dots were not printed - so it's probably something wrong with the cartridge (another one), but I don't know what. Thanks. Mike

Dots printed are from the cartridge, you proved that with the change to the old one. If the fuser was faulty, it would repeat the dot 2.5 times down an 8.5 x 11 page
Replace the cartridge and please use HP , remanufactured cartridges fail prematurley and usually wind up costnig more in service and repair/exchanges.

How do you make lines appear on an excel sheet?

I'm not sure what Version you're using, so I'll assume after Excel 2010.
At the top of the page, under the Home tab and directly under the Font window, there is an icon which looks like a window frame (dotted all around except on the bottom edge).
In your spreadsheet you have to select the area you want to work on. You can select a single cell to add lines to or the whole spreadsheet. Click on the icon I described above and a menu box will pop down. There many choices which allow you to select lines on all sides of your work. I prefer the one at the bottom which says 'More Borders'. With that window you select the edges you want lines on, the thickness/type of the line, or put an outline.
I think that's enough for now and I hope that gets you started.

Problem with printing borders, and with cartridge.

Hmm, I got the same problem once in my university LABs.
What i do was the same you have done, but do try again because if "some side" of the border is not been printed, then its the "Border Setting".

Try using Ms Word 2007.(I guess you are already using it)
Goto Page Layout Tab > click Page Borders (Borders and Shading dialogue will appear) > Then insert a border, apply it.

Now again go there, and this time in the bottom right corner of the dialogue box, you will see Options button, click it.

Make the Margins Maximum (31pts) (Measure from : Edge of Page)

if this doen't work, then;

You can also change the margins but now (Measure from : Text)

But the first one works for me perfectly.
before doing this all also re-insert your blx/wht cartirdge.
