When I turn my panasonic lumix tz3 on to take a photo, it struggles to focus and then says 'please turn camera off and then on again'. I do that but it just keeps saying the same thing. Anything I can do??

The problem is in the mechanical part of the lens housing, the motor that extends and retracts the lens is slowly seizing up, or the gears have ware and tare, or they need lubrication. This is a delicate job that require a camera technician to remedy the situation. If you continue to use the camera it will eventually stop working.

Mine does exactly the same - still holds all it's stored photos but seems to struggle to focus when turned on, then gives up & comes up with the 'turn camera off' message. Get the feeling it's something to do with whatever makes the camera focus.

Bluish colour with Lumix TZ3

I found 2 different Lumix TZ3 cameras.
http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PNAEndecaSearchCmd?N=779832097+250033510&Ne=&Ns=&Nr=12001&No=0&Ntt=tz3&Ntk=SupportSearch&URL=vSupportSearch&cmTag=false&cm_sp=&cn=&catalogId=13401&storeId=15001

In the manual, I couldn't find a reference to a bluish color.

In FAQ's, I found the following:
What is “Intelligent Auto Mode” (or IA Mode)?
“IA mode” automatically activates MEGA O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Exposure, and Quick Auto Focus to match your subject and shooting situation. IA Mode is a great mode for beginning photographers

Hello

Thank you for using
FixYa for your problem

Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty. It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

Like mem card problems. Try another in the camera, try reading card on a computer via a usb port card reader. Try reformating card using camera FORMAT function.

Lumix tz3

Low battery maybe? Try holding camera firmly in one hand, with camera on and in record mode, and strike in on its edge firmly on the heal of your other hand. This technique is often sucessful with temporary camer 'quirks' like freezing, lens not fully retracting, etc.
