Sounds like your drum belt has snapped, worn out or slipped off. It's a long belt that goes round the drum and a small motor. Have a look underneath - it might be hanging loose. Switch off at the plug first. Easy enough fix with some basic tools and a bit of time. Buy the belt off ebay when you are sure that is the problem. Vac all the fluff out of the machine while you are in there too.
Remove the rear panel of washer, and tilt washer forward away from you with someone to hold it steady.
Fit the belt round the motor pulley first and slowly feed it round the drum pulley turning the drum pulley at the same time,
It will be very tight, so watch your fingers.
It may seem to be too small, but persist with it, and it will go on.
is the drum spinning easy ?with no metal to metal grinding sound ? could be the start run capacitor for the motor its black/ round and is on the side of motor //or the motor windings have overheated 2 manny times an swelled the windings ///the drum shaft sleave/bearing could be wore out or gone //the front drum slides could be wore out or gone //kinda need a little more info.. hope this helps.. let me know., an good luck
Remove the complete rear panel of m/c if it is a washer dryer, you will see the drum pulley in the center, and the motor pulley is at the top of the m/c
Put belt round motor pulley first, and feed belt round drum pulley.
If it is a washer on its own, remove the small center cover at rear of washer, and remove top cover also.
Put belt round motor pulley first and carefully feed belt round drum pulley, you will find this easier to do if you unhook the rear retaining spring.
Please leave a fixya rating for my solution.
Thanks.
Sounds like the drive belt has gone, and the noise you can hear is the motor going round.
The red glow you can see, will be the heater element glowing..
To check the belt, remove top cover, and you will be able to see if the belt is on or not, if you can see it round the drum, try to lift it up, if it has not broken, then you will not be able to remove it, and that means the motor or drum could be siezed, try to turn the drum by hand, it should be fairly stiff to turn, but not that stiff that you cannot turn it at all.
The bra wire bears no relation to your present problem.
Remove top cover, screws at rear, and push top cover back.
See if the belt is still on, if it is, then select final spin and see if the motor and drum go round, if it does not, then the brushes in the motor probably need replacing.
Unplug washer, and disconnect the motor. you will find the brushes at the motor plug end, depress plastic lugs, and slide brushes out, if they are less than 5mm long, then replace them
If it is the belt that has come off, you will have to remove the rear panel to refit it.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
