Hi Victor,
You can't record the Freeview channels from the TV. It doesn't work that way. The reason you can still record terrestrial channels is because the VCR is still connected to your roof aerial with a co-axial cable and the VCR has its own built-in analogue tuner for recording terrestrial TV programmes.
To record the digital Freeview channels, you will either need to connect a separate Freeview set-top box to the VCR, or buy a VCR which has a built-in digital (DVB-T) tuner.
The VCR does not record programmes from the TV. It needs to be connected directly to the signal source, i.e. your aerial.
If you need any further assistance, please let me know.
Regards,
BElectric
Testimonial: "Thankyou. My previous TV was a Sony trinitron that had autolink and various scarts and I was able to record Freeview channels. "
Hi I beg to differ that u cant record. You should be able to.
get a scart put into to tv AV1 then connect to the vcr at AV2 or ext 2 then while the freeview is being displayed put the vcr on to av2 or ext 2 via your vcr remote. now when u press record u will be recording what eva the tv is displaying. of course u can only record what u are watching. but yes it should work a treat
raf
Yeah, that would be great except for the fact that EXT2 is an INPUT socket, not an OUTPUT. How do you record to video from an INPUT socket on the TV? Yes, some TVs have video OUT sockets. This isn't one of them. Please don't hijack any more of my threads with this ****.
well like i said i beg to differ, ext 2 on a panasonic vcr is an input. and 99 % of all tv do have a video and audio out on the scart AV1. and i am not trying to hijack nothing. Please dont get angry. I am very experienced in this field as i am sure u maybe are too. but i am entitled to my opinion too.
Why dont u let the person whos tv it is to decide weather i am right or wrong instead of assuming u are right.
Jesus. Yes, EXT2 on a Panasonic VCR is an INPUT. However, BOTH of the SCART sockets on an ALBA 32880HDF are also INPUT sockets. You cannot record FROM an INPUT socket on a TV - regardless of whether it is connected to an INPUT socket on a VCR. To record from a TV, the TV must have a video OUPUT socket. The Alba has none. This is why he is unable to record the freeview channels. If you we're very experienced in this field, you would know this. Please check your facts first or stay off my threads. Thank you.
hey victor, Please try what i mentioned and let me know if this works. I would love to find out if this is only one of the few TV i have come across which cant do this.
master guru
You waste a lot of time re-answering questions which have already been correctly answered. How about answering some that haven't been answered and we'll see whether you are a master guru . . . or not. If you're just here to troll, then you're wasting everyones time as well as your own.
well we will have to see then if u are right or wrong then init
Please copy and paste the following link into your browser - and pay particular attention to the section titled "Recording onto DVD / Video from a Digital TV". I think you'll enjoy the part about SCART input and output sockets - of which this Alba TV has 2 inputs and zero outputs. I did not say this could not be done on some TVs, however, I can state with absolute 100% fact that neither of the SCARTs on this Alba TV are outputs. Until you can show evidence to the contrary, ON THIS PAGE, I would appreciate it if you would go and waste your time somewhere else. Thank you.
