If it blows the power fuse even with the power switch on the radio off andif it has been inadvertently connected reverse polarity as in the red and black wires were hooked up in reverse, there is a polarity protection diode on the board where the power wires enter the unit, and it shorts out to protect the unit it looks like a standard diode with a white band on one end and will show a short in both directions if defective and high resistance in one direction and low resistance in the other direction if good,if it blows the fuse when switched on,then it can be a leaky or shorted audio I.C. mounted vertically on the side of the radio case, usually has 8 or 10 pins in a row soldered to the circuit board or possibly the R.F. preamp or final output transistor on the inside rear panel of the radio next to the coax antenna connector
iff you can locate the diode it will be at the rear of the rig where your /- terminals enter the board get a snips and break the diode though your radio may work now iff there is not anything else wrong replace with new diode it will work without replacing as long as you dont put the feed lines on backwards hihi
