How do you do a cold boot on a dell desk top model Inspiron 530? The computer will not boot up

This is most likely the start of one of two things. The video card or the hard drive. If you have not backed up your hard drive I would do that right now. With this being a desk top you are in great shape for replacing the bad component. For about 50 dollars at a NON BIG BOX STORE you can have it diagnosed and replace it yourself.

Does it have a wireless card?

Lost Windows password:

• Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode.
  
• Login as other user (if other user is available) and manage users. Must be an administrator.
  
• Reformat computer.
  
• Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html

There is a free boot CD called Hirens. This one command prompt only.

Factory settings are normally achieved by pressing the F8 on boot up, and choosing the option for "Repair My Computer". If this doesn't work, then CTRL+F11 should take you directly into the recovery option.

Yes, on most desk top the green light in the back tells you that you have power to the cpu. Even though the unit is off it is telling you that the current supply is still there. This is a good feature if you move your unit as soon as you plug it in you know if the outlet is on or not.

If you are refering to the DELL system restore on the hard drive you will have to contact DELL and have them ship you the recovery discs for your system. Once you have the recovery discs, insert them in your drive and boot the computer from the CD/DVD to attempt the recovery.
