Sc998 is either a problem with an application, or the firmware that controls that application. If you have a service technician come out and update your firmware, it will most likely fix the problem.

Reseting SC 554 error code on Ricoh copier
Press CLEAR MODE(yellow) key,
Press 1 , 0 , 7
Press and hold down CLEAR/STOP (red) key for more 5 sec.
Press in the SP Mode( on the touch pane) Go to sp5810 and reset SC code

Could have a corrupt driver. Disconnectthe printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd doboth and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printerto the USB port, do so and it should again work properly. Hope this helps. Bud
