SOURCE: buzzing/fizzing noise from back of sony flat screen tv

Below is an image of rear side of your TV, Sony KDL-40W5500
Top right corner is marked there and possible cause of noise seems back light inverter board, there are high voltage going to CCFL inside LCD panel and seems high voltage leakage causing that buzzing/ fuzzing noise.

Replace back light inverter board upon voltage leakage confirmation.
Thanks.

When I play a CD I get a buzzing sound. The sound starts as soon as I hit the play button (and before the CD is actually moving.) It gets louder once the CD starts playing. The sound is coming through...

Buzzing is usally AC line noise leaking into an un-shielded cable somewhere or a floating ground. If the AC plug is reversible, try that. Sometimes the buzz is from an attached device. Make sure all audio cables are plugged in tightly at each end and routed away from or at right angles to any power cords and away from other sources of strong magnetic fields like TV's. I've also seen variable track lights induce noise but it's usually minor.

Buzz sound when tv is on constant

Hello; If you have a plasma TV, is fairly common to hear buzz noises. They can be always there or intermittent. They can get louder as the screen gets brightest. If the buzz is noticeable when you are at normal volume setting, the buzz is excessive and a PCB probably needs replacing. These buzz noises are almost never a sign of failure or safety. LCD TV's can also buzz, but the same applies. John

Hi, I Purchased an LG 50PK350 plasma tv and I am experiencing an extremely loud, annoying buzzing sound even with the amp switched off & the sound muted. The buzzing is not constant ... the brighter...

I have this tv aswell, and yes I will confirm that it does buzz quite alot, but all plasma tvs do, it is to do with how it renders images, the buzzing can be made worse by it being close to a wall and it reflecting back. I found that my tv stand some how amplified the buzzing when i got mine. I dont think its something you can escape.

Mine i notice also when scrolling around menus seems to have lines that follow your selection....not to pleased about that

A buzzing noise coming from inside the tv but still buzzes when on mute but doesnt buzz when tv guide is up on the screen or when a channel is showing what time it starts

plasma tvs buzz a lot, depending on screen brightness. its probably normal but if you can hear loudly over your volume, may be a bad board or plasma panel. from behind tv, left side = y board, right side = z board, middle = power board ---- bad panel can buzz from anywhere... if you hear all parts buzzing, its probably normal plasma noise

I have a Sony KDF-E60A20...it blink red 5 times and video or audio. It happen all of a sudden...what could be the problem?

5 is a bad lamp ballast . but you should check the lamp first. those tv's don't always detect ballast trying to start the lamp correctly. especially if its even been repaired before . most service poeple dont put the hv detect wire back in the correct place so when the lamp goes bad the tv thinks the ballast is bad. listen for a little short buzz or crackle noise from the back of the tv when you try to turn it on . the buzz noise last about 1 second and should happen about every 30 secoinds 3 times . if you hear it only the lamp is probly bad. or its a bad ballast

Vizio GV42l buzzing

Vizio makes an ok LCD, but if you notice they no longer make plasma. they stopped last year. Anyways. the buzzing sound is semi serious, it sounds as though you have a capacitor leaking. It is best to get it fixed before it goes out all the way, with it buzzing it will be easier to identify. Best of luck

In the last month my plasma TV has developed a buzz that is really annoying as its the only thing i hear now. It can be heard sitting infront of the TV up to 5 metres away. It comes and goes but is there...

It could be the transformer, need to get it serviced. Nothing will happen but the noise will get louder and more annoying. Most of the time the transformers have a plastic plug to conceal the magnetics and the coil. The glue on the plastic loosens and can create the buzzing noise.
