I've taken off the fabric softener container and the flat cap beneath that (I used a screw driver to pry that up). Now, I've got no bolt.... like the person above. I've got a deep roundish hole, with a square hole inside that. The next piece doesn't seem like it will come off with a pull. It's a plastic piece I can pull up and down. I can see the smaller bold way down in there. But, I don't see how to get this current piece off....

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite fabric softener won't drain

Is the dispenser full? It could be that it is a bit clogged. I would try just pouring a little very hot water in for several loads and using dryer softener sheets during this time. Let's see if we can unclog it .

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite Oasis, fabric softer thing exploded...

Okay...the cone actually goes inside the the two other pieces you mention. The cone is to be inserted upside-down. That is, the opening of the cone should be facing UP. The way this fabric softener dispenser is supposed to work is, you place fabric softener thorugh the opening of the dispenser. The cone actually holds it like a cup. When the washer goes through the initial spin cycle before the rinse cycle begins, the centrifugal force of the washer spinning forces the fabric softener out of the cone and into the wash tub.

The dispenser assembly should just snap right on top of the agitator. If the dispenser does not stay on securely any longer, you may have to replace it with a new one. You can find replacements at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in the same model number you provided and look for item number 1 under the "Motor, Basket and Tub Parts" heading.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you still have questions, please let me know.

PS It is also a good idea to periodically remove the dispenser and soak it in some hot water to get rid of accumulations of hardened softner. They will clog from time to time.

SOURCE: cant remove agitator. Fabric softener cap is off but i do not see a screw or bolt to remove the assembly. agitator is only weakly working

There should be a 7/16 bolt in the bottom of the cup once you have taken the cup out. Its kinda deep you would need a longer extension. Also this agitator bolt usually has a gasket material attached to it and it may be covered by another cap.

Diplomat ADP 8322 - 11 Flashes. Will not go beyond the Rinse cycle.

Hello,

There's never a good time for the washer to stop working correctly. If a washing machine's agitator isn't working properly, your clothes won't come clean.

The back-and-forth movement of the agitator is a main function in the cleaning process of your laundry.

If your agitator isn't working, it could be the agitator itself or broken splines in the assembly beneath the agitator. Either one is a relatively easy and inexpensive repair that you should be able to do yourself.

Instructions and material needed :Socket wrench,Rope,Broom,Replacement parts

  1. Inspect the agitator for breaks. If the agitator is broken or cracked, you'll need to replace it. A broken agitator won't operate correctly, if at all. If the agitator looks fine but isn't moving, you'll need to inspect the plastic splines in the agitator assembly located underneath the agitator.
  2. Remove the agitator from the washing machine by first removing the fabric softener dispenser cap on top of it. This cap should either pull or screw off. It it's difficult to remove, you might have to pry it off.
  3. Unscrew the bolt beneath the softener cap with a socket wrench. Once you've removed the screw, try lifting the agitator out of the washer. If it doesn't easily lift out, loop a rope underneath one side of the agitator and over a broom handle. Continue looping the rope under the other side of the agitator and back over the broom. Using caution not to hit yourself in the head, pull up on the broom until the agitator comes loose.
  4. Replace the broken agitator with a new one. Snap the new one in place and secure the bolt underneath the fabric softener cap. Place the cap back on the agitator and you're ready to start washing.
  5. fix-washing-machine-agitator-1.5-120x120.jpg
Check the plastic splines in the assembly directly underneath the agitator, if the agitator itself isn't broken. If the plastic splines are broken or worn down, this will keep the agitator from properly moving. In fact, it might not move at all. Replace the spline assembly with a new one and reassemble the agitator by reversing your steps to remove it.
Good luck and thanks for using fixya.

How do i remove the agitator ??

Various makes and models differ in how the agitator is removed. In some newer models, the agitator just lifts straight up and out. However, in most models you will have to do some combination of the following steps. First remove the fabric softener dispenser, if any. It should either lift or screw off. Next remove the cap. It may lift off, screw off or failing that, it may need to be pried off.
Beneath the cap some agitators are secured in place by a bolt. Use a socket wrench with an extension to remove that bolt. Some washer may have a screw near to the bottom of the agitator post that must be removed. Now try to lift the agitator straight up, possibly with a little back and forth rocking motion. Use caution when pulling, the agitator may come loose suddenly and hit you in the face or send you flying backward.
If the agitator is particularly stubborn, you can loop some rope under one side of the agitator at the bottom and then up over a broom handle. Now loop it again under the other side of the agitator and back up to the broom. Brace one end of the broom handle against the top of the washer and lift up on the other end. Double check that you have removed anything that may be securing the agitator in place. Do not use too much force or you may damage the washer cabinet, agitator or injure yourself.

I can't get top part off the agitator

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

If you have a 2 part agitator assembly (Fabric softener dispenser, top agitator and main agitator)

First, push down on the ring around the bottom of the fabric softener dispenser and lift it off the agitator.

Pry the top cap (a short screwdriver into the slots in the cap works) of the top agitator.

Looking into the center of the top agitator, you'll see a plastic piece with a 1/2" square hole. Using a 1/2" socket set extension, unscrew the piece carefully. You might have to hold the bottom agitator in place while you do this.

The top agitator pulls up.

You'll see a bolt and screw holding the bottom agitator on. Carefully unbolt this one and the entire bottom agitator will pull up.

Power window on a 97 honda accord wont go up

possibly your power window regulator is out. basically check the fuses first to make sure you have not blown that, if it is good, then you can order a new window regulator from the dealer or online @ autopartswarehouse.com. to replace the window regulator you will need to will need to remove the door panel, start with the screws on the handle and the arm rest, covered with a plastic cap. the door panel which can be pryed from the bottom with a flat blade screw driver or flat pry bar, it will make a snapping sound. three bolts on the regulator 4 bolts on the window tracks and 2 bolts securing the window, re assemble as you have taken apart, Good Luck!!

How do you tighten bolts on Kohler toilet seats the bolt has a plastic cap?

The caps are at the back of the toilet seat. Just under the cap cover are the bolts. You will need a meduim sized flat screw driver. Hold the nut on the bottom and use the screw driver to tighten.

The covers pry up with a small screw driver IF they are square.

If they are more circular with ears they rotate counter clockwise about 30 degrees, Then lift the lid off.

Please rate this response and Good Luck, Phil

Whirlpool top load washer

Bill,

On most top load whirpool washers (not including the calypso or the cabrillo) there are 2 main styles for getting the agitator off.

The first and easiet are for the older styles. This will be easy to identify as there is a green ring around the fabric softner dispenser holding it on. Raise the ring up and the dispenser will come off. Underneath you will see a plastic cap. Pry this off with a small flat hear screw driver. Underneath there, there will be a 7/16" bolt. Take it off with a rachet and lift the agitator from the bottom and out of the way.

The second and slightly more complicated method is for the new style. This can be identified by the 4 evenly spaced slots just underneath the fabric softner dispenser. First gently rock the top of the fabric softner side to side. the white top should come off as well as a clear plastic cup underneath. You will be left with 4 white plastic shafts sticking up just above thse slots mentioned earlier. Taking care not to break these shafts, rotate the remaining top piece of the agitator counter clock wise. Once it rotates, pull/ pry it off. Underneath there will be a clear plastic cap with 2 tabs on it. Pull the cap off by these tabs. Remove the remaining 7/16 bolt underneath and lift the agitator off by the bottom.

There are many variations of agitators, but one of these 2 methods (or even a mixture) should get you taken care of. One other thing to mention. Once you take either of the perviously mentioned styles off, you may find a white square hole under neath the dispensers. With this style, you use a 1/2" rachet to unscrew it counter clockwise and the 7/16 bolt is underneath.

If this doesn't seem to match what you have, get me the model number (just underneath the lid to the center rear) and I can get you some step by step directions just for your model.

Object caught beneath the adigator

Remove the fabric softener by pulling and pushing to one side.
Once removed, there will be a half inch bolt that holds the agitator to the transmission shaft. Loosen the bolt and the agitator will lift off.
Older Hoovers have a set screw near the middle of the agitator.

If you need further assistance, let me know
