DIVX Playback problems

Whenever I burn an avi file on to a Blank CD or a Blank DVD I have problems playing it back on my Smasung R155 Recorder. The disc plays, however the image appears blocky and jittery. However I have tried the same discs on friends dvd players that have divx and it plays back with no problems at all. Please help!!!

Tried the firmware update and it wouldn't work. unfortunately i think its a case of you get what you pay for. time for a new player. also stopped recording as it won't recognise blank dvds anymore. tried 4 different types/makes.

Taken from the manual:

"Some MPEG4 files created on a personal computer may not be play
back. That is why Codec Type, Version and Higher resolution over
specification is not supported"

Silly Samsung they dont even mention what codec and its resolution is supported. never going to buy a branded player again. My cheap Asda wierd DivX player was great no porblems at all, but a shame they dont make them anymore...

OK i got the firmware to work but its no good player still not playing DIVX smoothly. To update just add the ZIP file you downloaded along with the R155P.RUF ON THE ROOT OF THE CD. INSERT THE CD AND FOLLOW PROMPT ONSCREEN... GOOD LUCK WITH THIS S##T PLAYER

Got the firmware to work, but its no good, still plays blocky... to update the firmware i added the file directly on the CD along with the uncompressed file in the directory and file itself on the root of the CD... i burned a finalised CD and not a DVD

What program are you using to create a Divx. It could be the Samsung player is being picky.

www.divx.com has a program for creating Divx Cds. In fact when I got my Samsung camera they gave me a trial version.

My LG DP122 will play some AVI files from a USB device but not others.

figured this out, lg dp122 uses DivX Home Theater profile, so the technical specs of the video must match that.
Those specs can be found here: http://www.divx.com/files/DivX-Profiles_Tech-Specs.pdf

Can I play a movie with extension avi on alba dvd plyer?

Unless stated otherwise, either on the player itself, or in the instruction manual, no. You would need to convert the .avi file to DVD compliant format in order to play it. ConvertXtoDVD can do this and can give you the option of burning the converted result directly to DVD-R. It is a shareware program.

Many DVD players can handle .divx files on a CD-R, but takes a while to read the contents before playing them, then there are .mp3 and .jpeg which is a fairly common file format, playable almost anywhere. It is unlikely or extremely rare that any standalone DVD player or similar external device can play .avi raw data files successfully.

There are heaps of video conversion software programs available.

I have a portable Kawasaki DVD player. It does not play AVI videos. Tellme what to do please.

This normally depends on what FOURCC the AVI has encoded inside the file.

Look here at my DivX Rox!! facebook group for the correct DivX FOURCC that will normally work on most standalone players on AVI with FOURCC =DIVX or DX50

Most DVD players that have DivX support require these two FOURCC tags, DIV3,DIV4,DIV5 and DIV6 wont always work but sometimes you can change this without re-encoding using a batch FOURCC changer.

As a general rule of thumb even when you change the FOURCC of the AVI you may experience audio lag on the file it is best to convert all AVI's to DivX using the DivX Convertor that is available with the DivX Professional codec costs $19.99 (£13.99) and is well work the money.

I have had some success with Xvid AVI's with FOURCC XVID but with audio lag and video jerks.

How can I burn a CD with a movie file to use on a DVD player?

First of all do you have the right kkind of dvd player?

I have a dvd player that plays DIVX movies, so I use Roxio software and burn a data cd of an avi. file. From my understanding AVI, DIVX, & MP4 can be read as a divx. Make sure you close you secission on the disc or it wont play.

Attempting to play bittorrent dvds.

If by bit-torrents you mean avi video files the DVD recorder must state it will play divX files. But if the files are encoded with a codec other than divX or X-vid then they may not play directly on any standalone DVD.
If the files you have downloaded are mpg2 files there is a chance they may play.
Lite-on do a nice small compact model that plays divX, or the Toshiba D-R17DTKB plays most things and has 1080p upscaling so you can connect it to an HDTV and upscale any slightly poor quality files you may of downloaded.
