My samsung intensity has decided to stick itself on silent mode & won't let me take it off. How do I get it off silent mode so I can hear my phone ring or listen to music again? I have tried changing the volume but it still doesn't work.... it says *silent mode* and the only thing it will do is vibrate.

Check the settings for the vibrate mode.
Have you put the phone on 'Silent'?
Go into Settings,
Go to Sounds and Vibrations.
Turn 'Sound mode' to Sound.
Turn 'Vibrate while ringing' to on. (Move the dot right).
Turn 'Vibration intensity' to a higher setting, (Move the dot right).
Scroll down to 'Do not disturb'. Turn off. (Slide the dot left).
I hate to tell you this but this problem generates more complaints with the Samsung Intensity than any other. The on;y solution, that works every time is to charge the battery through your computer's USB port.

your problem is you cant hear anyone when you make a call and you have the volume up, you tried to revert to the original settings and you have silent mode turned off.
My suggestion is go to near mobile shop and tell the shopkeeper to change your phone mice.
Do you mean the Airplane Mode? You can switch Airplane Mode off by pressing the center black button on the phone (for the Menu) then going to Settings & Tools and choosing Phone Settings. The first entry on the Phone Settings menu is Airplane Mode -- select it and choose Off, then hit the center button.
Then you can go into Sounds Settings on the Settings & Tools menu if you want to choose your ringtones and whether or not your phone vibrates. You can set the ringer volume by using the up and down volume buttons on the left side of the phone.
