Windows xp Hi I have been having problems with my connection to the internet, about a week ago i tried to go online but i had the "page cannot be displayed" screen, i tried everything, then restored my pc to an earlier time, that seemed to fix the problem. then it happened again, but this time the restore didnt work, i checked everything, the modem had disappeared from my network connection list. i tried to install the modem again but couldnt as the disc needs to connect to the internet to complete the installation, i found eventually that the firewall setting on zonealarm had jumped to high, so i adjusted it to medium, it worked fine, although was running through an old network setting? and today i cannot connect my partner has checked all the things we tried b4 but nothing works! i cant understand why tsettings keep changing and disappearing all of a sudden My pc has shield delux security witch i purchased last month and zone alarm witch i downloaded free off the internet i have never had these problems ever before , both the security i have on my pc have worked fine? Please help Rachael

About a week ago my HP Pavilion DV4000 couldn't pick up my wireless linsys G router and said that no wireless connections were found. I had to use a wireless B card I had lying around but still having...

You are using a B wireless adater on windows XP computer.
Tere might be adapter utility installed on your computer. You can use that software to connect to the wireless network or you can switch over to windows software to connect.
It will be better if you use the WINDOWS XP to connect to the network.
Check the wireless settings of the router also.

Computer says connected to wireless connection but pages won't load

Hello there

I had a similar problem about a week ago.
Windows 7 confirmed that i was connected and windows updates worked but i could not open any web page. The problem was that my proxy setting have changed. If this is your problem, you just open your broser go to tools, internet options, connections, lan connections and then just tick of the box which says auto detect settings. Restart the broser and it should work.

The other problem could just as easy be that your ip is not set to auto obtain. Try this as well. I really hope this works for you, it did for me. Please rate this.

Best regards

I got Embarq DSL a few weeks ago, i can get online for a minutes then the internet will go out, i have to reboot the modem several times before it will come back up, ive tried changing where the modem and...

If Embarq cannot or willnot help you, drop them and get another service.
First connect your modem directly to the computer to isolate the problem. If it solves problem then difficulty is in the router. Then contact the router manufacturer.

If problem persists the Embarq should help you.

Netgear wn111 installation problem. " MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP UPDATE REQUIRED" before this application can proceed, you must update the Microsoft windows xp software on this computer. XP HOT FIX KB822603 The...

Hi,
You are very limited here, but it's not impossible. Have you tried getting to a wired connection temporarily? A long way around would be to reinstall Win XP with a disc that includes the update. A word of warning though, the fix you have described (KB822603) is already included in SP2 on Win XP...SO... while you are connected to the wired internet connection, you may have to get an update for the driver of the netgear wireless wn111 hardware as well.
I hope this helps.

Stopped connecting to internet through land line

hi there, i had kind a same problem with u, the only difference is mine shows "connected" but i can't surf the internet when others in my network are doing just fine. 1st i tried to uninstall my LAN card driver and the reinstall it back. It worked, i can surf the internet but only for a few minutes. So i installed a firewall, in my case, i installed windows defender. After reinstalling my LAN card driver, i realized an unknown program tried to change some of my LAN driver files, so i denied the program access using windows defender. The problem solved !! Maybe it's a virus or spyware, i don't know because before installing windows defender, my avg and antispyware don't detect any virus/spyware. Hope this help, gud luck

Some web pages never load, others do

wontload,
The first thing I suspect is a malware infection (browser hijack).
Please try spybot and adaware.
Then get hijackthis and scan. Check for any funny looking entries and delete them.
Also, Go to tools, internet options, and delete browsing history (IE).
Go to tools, internet options ,connections, lan settings and make sure that nothing is checked.
please keep us posted.
thanks
