Need the SATA driver file(s) to run/install win7 enterprise onto wd 2500bb caviar in a 64bit gateway e-series 4026 media manager. Power supply was disconnected, battery removed from motherboard, jumper switched to second position, power button held for 30 seconds, then jumper returned to original position, batt reinserted, connected to power, and set BIOS to 1) DVD-RW 2) wd 2500bb caviar ect. will read iso dvr and load files, asks for language preference, then asks where to install windows, no drives are shown, this has been tried and restarted many times in various manners. i posses a 4gb flash drive which i can use to move the sata driver files onto the gateway during booting/intsalation. please let me know the name of the required sata files and any other drivers a clean HD might need to be recognized by mobo/cpu. thank you very much, take care

SOURCE: wd800jd sata hard drive not recognized in bios on boot up

Hi, A couple of ideas: 1. There are 3 versions of this motherboard: Dragon Plus, V1.0 & V2.0, perhaps your BIOS needs an update to be able to recognize the new HD. This of course would require flashing; 2. There are two variations of a WD SATA hard drive: Serial ATA amd Serial ATA II; 3. Re Jumper settings: the eight-pin jumper block is only used to enable power management on the drive. There are no master/slave settings since there is only one drive per cable; 4. If you are fresh installing Windows on it, you need to press F6 when asked by the Windows Installer and follow on-screen instructions. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information.

SOURCE: WD Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 not recognized at install

Windows XP does not have built in SATA drivers. You will need to download the XP drivers from Western Digital's website and install before the computer will allow you to format and use your new drive. Hope this helps.

Dead hd wd caviar 80 gb

Is the "dead" hard drive 80GB? or 500GB?
I presume you set up this hard drive as the second hard drive, or as an external drive. You can do these:
1. Disk Management (check the readablility):
Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management (please run as administrator; right click it), Disk Management. Is this hard drive info exist in this screen? If it is, then the hard drive is not dead.
Click on the hard drive info, right click, and you can do some actions (format, expand the volume, assign a drive letter, etc.)
2. If necessary, test and fix it using Norton Utilities (download and run it):

I need firmware for Western Digital WD Caviar Blue WD3200AAJS - hard drive - 320 GB - SATA-300 SATA

If you are troubleshooting a system or OS problem, you should not consider firmware updates until after exploring more typical troubleshooting steps like file system error checking and anti-virus scanning.

try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive this should schedule the task on restart then defragment your hard drive
