For the last several years my ceiling fan remotes has been working fine. Lately two ceiling fan remotes started given me trouble. At the same time, remote 1 stop working and remote 2 worked but the light stays on. In addition, it appears that I am having some interference from a neighbor's remote setting. Because remote 2 fan and light turns on/off without any help from me. I have tried resetting the remote control dip switch on remote 2 and on the fan. In the beginning, this appeared to have worked. Remote 1 started to work again even though remote 2 light stayed on. After about three or four days the same things happen all over again, right down to the fan/light being controlled by someone else. I think this is why the light on remote 2 did not go off when not being used because it is still receiving interference from somewhere in the neighborhood. I have been through all 16-dip setting and the light on remote 2 continues to stay on. I have a 10 foot vaulted ceiling; I do not want to keep going through this. I do not think that a new remote will correct this problem if it is being caused by an outside source. Please advice JB in AZ

SOURCE: I have 2 fans 1 stopped working 1 remote

Look at the remote code on the remote which is broken, then copy the code on the fixed remote, then you can control anoher fan.

10.27.09 - Ceiling Fan Light Kit not Working.

the remote does control the light. i think it's the bottom button, once to turn it on, again to turn it off. there should have been a blue wire connected in to the wires in the ceiling, this is power for the light. if only the white, black, and copper are connected, the light part won't work but the fan will (usually)

Need instruction page for the Hunter light/fan remote control

There is a battery in the hand held remote and another battery in the receiver which gets tucked into the ceiling mount cover. Remove the ceiling cover and you will see the battery there, usually a 12 volt battery.

The upp/down slide is a dimmer.

In the event that changing the batteries doesn't solve your problems, Hunter makes replacement remote sets, available at Home Depot, lowes, etc and usually around twenty dollars.

Fan is Erratic

Ceiling fans with wireless remote controls have an electronic receiver installed in the fan, which controls the light, dimming, and fan speed. Sometimes the receiver goes bad and needs to be replaced. If you have had any power outages or power surges, they may have fried the receiver. I've noticed that my ceiling fan light turns on when the power is restored after a power outage. Now, whenever my power goes out, I shut off the light switch that powers my ceiling fan so It doesn't experience a surge to to the controller when the power comes back on. I've purchased new receivers on eBay and Amazon to replace my blown remotes and receivers.
