It's not a firmware update, you do have a problem with the main board giving the power supply an ON command. Please have it looked at by a qualified technician.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Hi there I solved my problem by downloading new software from I can't remember the website (it's been about 5 months) and loading it via USB cable. I can't believe it worked but it did. You should try Google search and look for troubleshooting tips for your tv. Include model and serial numbers. When you download new software make sure you have the correct software version and find and follow directions as to how to get it done.
