Please try this, look in the back of the TV and see if it has a small jack the size of a small MP3 headphone jack labeled with 'IR remote input', if it does, insert a mini phone plug in and out a couple times to clean the switch contacts that selct the front panel remote receiver or the external remote input.
If that still does not work then it can be the remote receiver in the front of the TV is bad.
Please post back what you find and also leave rating if it helps.

I have cable box connected to LG tv by HDMI. Cable remote works for everything except volume. Volume buttons work only on Tv remote.

You need to look up the codes for the manufacturers of the various tv's that work with the cable box. The codes should be listed in Help/Settings on the cable box itself. If you cannot find the setting contact the cable box operator for instructions..

Tv remote code

Trying to program a universal remote can sometimes be a frustrating process. Successful programming of a universal remote depends on whether the universal remote manufacturer included our company’s information in the remote when it was assembled.

Then a cable company (ie., Comcast) or satellite provider (ie., Dish Network) orders their decoder box and universal remote control from a manufacturer (ie., Scientific Atlanta, Motorola, etc.), the decoder box manufacturer provides a list of all the possible remote controls this universal can duplicate. From that list the cable company or satellite selects which manufacture’s products to include on their new universal remote. Once those manufacturers names have been decided, they are placed on the universal remote and a numeric code is assigned. If they choose not to include our company on the universal remote, the universal remote may not access the Maxent screen.

If you cannot locate Maxent on the list provided to you by the universal remote provider, please try the following:

Through contact with various cable and satellite content providers we have developed a list of the most common numeric codes that are used with universal remotes.

Content Provider/Most commonly used code

Comcast: 1755
Comcast (ML-3251HLT Model): 0054
Insight: 1755

Direct TV: 11755
Dish Network: 742
Cable Vision: 165
Adelphia: 0156, 1755
Universal: 0762
One4All: 0036
Time Warner: 0230

We have identified other manufacturers of display products that have similar remote control information to ours. Depending on the universal remote you are using these manufacturers may work. Please use the documentation that accompanied your universal remote, and look up the following companies. Input the numeric code associate with that company.

Gateway
Sampo
Viewsonic
Magnavox
Phillips
Marantz
Pilot

If the universal remote you are trying to program contains a Code Search (the remote will scan through all the codes contained within the universal remote) function, we recommend that you try that procedure. It is possible that there may be another manufacturer code that may work with our monitor.

You may also want to try a Learning Remote from another manufacturer. This type of remote control can absorb or record the information coming directly out of the Maxent remote control. The learning remote then duplicates that information and acts like the Maxent Remote control. This type of remote can also record the signal coming from your other universal remotes in the same manner. In which case you can use this learning remote for your entire audio video system

please rate the chat session that got disconnected due to slow server if this helps.and if does not helps please reply for further help.

Code for Vizio tv

I contacted Vizio the other day. They tell me that they use the same generic codes as LG. I have Suddenlink Cable, formerly Charter, so I still use the Charter remote. My remote only needed 3 digits and I have noticed that many need 4 or 5. I can tell you that the LG code worked for my tv. I can power on/off, volume, and change the channel. All other functions require the manufacture's remote. The code I used is 005. There was also 004 but that did not work on my tv. Hope this helps someone!

QUESTION ABOUT PROGRAMMING CABLE REMOTE TO T.V

A: For the LTxxxxx series:
You can use the codes listed under RCA, LG, Philips or Yamaha.
For the 3- 5- 7- series:
This line of product is new to the market; STB manufactures have not included our brand in their code list yet. We recommend using a learning remote control for both the OLEVIA TV and your set top box.
