Please try this, look in the back of the TV and see if it has a small jack the size of a small MP3 headphone jack labeled with 'IR remote input', if it does, insert a mini phone plug in and out a couple times to clean the switch contacts that selct the front panel remote receiver or the external remote input. If that still does not work then it can be the remote receiver in the front of the TV is bad.

Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.
