Frying power window switches

Shortly after getting this van a year ago, the driver side power window stopped working. I know the motor had been replaced just before purchase (mandatory for safety inspection), so my husband figured it must have been the switch.
He replaced the switch, only to have it blow immediately.
So he replaces the motor thinking that it is what blew the switch.
Put in a ANOTHER switch ( i'm pissed because they are 150 bucks each), and within a few days it stops working again.
So 2 motors, and 2 switches (over 600 bucks so far!!!!!!!!!!!!) and I still can't open my window!
The driver side control for passenger side window continues to work through all of this bs.
He needs to trace this down before we shell out any more cash!

I had a similar problem in my 1993 Safari. Problem turned out NOT to be a switch, but a broken wire in the driver side door opening between the door and the frame. I found a cut in the wiring insulation, and it corroded, breaking. This disabled the window control.

Why rear windows on 2001 chevy tracker won't work ?

Would seem your into the inner doors & have a partial
grasp on things

Now you fix all door windows one shot

#1 Test all switches, ohm meter unplugged or volt meter with power
#2 Test all motors with battery voltage direct -- DC motor will run either direction-- can't hook up wrong
#3 Window Regulators -you know about them (Unless they are broken-you said they are tight)
#4 Do you have good ground side wiring & battery voltage at all
switches & motors
#5 Last resort--unhook the cables & work on freeing up the
glass & window guides etc then you will have found out if the
regulators are the issue

Odyssey power window switch

You will need to start with removing the drivers side interior door panel. You will need a test-light and check for power and ground at both the suspected switch and the window motor. At the switch, test for power and ground going into the switch. Then test he other side for power and ground going out. Test for power and ground at the power window motor too. Please write back with what you have found and write back, good luck.

My 1999 plymouth voyager mini van has power windows. Initially the drivers side started have intermitant problems with raising or lowering. Shortly after that time the window failed to move either up or...

Hi, I have a 2002 Chrysler voyager (UK) which had the same problem with the drivers window. This issue went on for over 2 years, and I even bought new window runners from the US but still had issues! I have now fixed the problem. The bushes in the window motor had worn to a degree that contact got weaker until no contact was being made at all. I stripped the moter down (easier than I thought) and replaced the brushes at a cost of aroung £5 ($8), now the window is functioning better than it did when I bought at 2 years old, plus I did the same to the passanger window and that improved too. I hope this helps, if you require further info on stripping the motor and removing/replacing it please let me know. ([email protected])

Drivers window stops working

I have had the same issues with both power windows. The issue is the window gets stuck in the up position usually because of holding the up button too long. In all cases I have taken the door panel off loosened the window motor screws which takes the pressure off the internal gear drive of the motor, put it all back together and it works until someone holds the button too long again. I have done this 4 times and each time it fixed the problem. I guarantee the dealers know of this problem and I suspect that they fix it the same way and tell you that they changed the drive motor.

1995 G20 van

the actual power window motor is getting old and probably needs replacement. as they age they get slower and picky about which way they want to go, outside temp also affects the operation also. in warmer weather they tend to work better
