I have the HD52W67 and just recently as I was watching and turned off the tv.After approx 1 hour I went to turn it on by remote it failed ck batteries and changed they were good. I then tried tostart by power button, it flashed 9 times in a row then nothing happen.I then unpluged for aprrox. 15 min and tried to power start it attempt then went into the same pattern. Now it does noting. What Is going on? P lease someone help...

The line is there because the vertical deflection unit - the one that spreads that line across the entire screen to form the image - has failed. Replacing it is a job for a professional, or at least an experienced amateur, and the parts will be quite difficult to find for such an old tv .
it's possible that someone has accidentally set the power/energy saver / sleep mode - you can set it to engage at different times or to go off whenever there is no activity (ie you're watching a two hour movie and it's set to turn off after 1 hour). try checking the settings and changing them.
Go to website Encompass Electronics.com type in your model number it will list part and part number ,you can also look for Lamp on E-Bay Encompass 1-800-638-3328 Also ck Color Wheel remove lamp take a flash light to watch when you turn TV on see if the color wheel is turning if it is defective set will shut OFF. But most likely its your Lamp.
Ballast Board may be Bad it is what turn Lamp on Call Encompass for parts 1-800-638-3328 or look for one on E-Bay they have good deals on Parts.Also CK Fan to Lamp it maybe defective .Call Mats for Fan 1-800-628-1118 they have lamps also.
If you have a Sony DLP, then the loud pop you heard is your lamp. The lamps last approx. 4K-6K viewing hours. Read your manual for replacement part number to reorder and very simple to replace yourself.
