This error is usually associated with bad memory cards......how much amount of memory are you using.....try reseating the memory cards(ram)....if you still get the error msg....try starting the system with jst 1 memory (if thr are 2 memory cards installd) & thn swap it with the other one......

Helo i try to play a game and i get nmi memorry parity error blah blah, with a blue screen.

There are number of things that can cause an error like this. Faulty memory, a bad harddrive, a failing motherboard, or a corrupt OS.
If you get this error every time you power on your PC than follow the below steps
It probably meant the installation itself was corrupt, not the disk you were using.

To test your memory try Windows Memory Diagnostic Test
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

The Windows Memory Diagnostic tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on your computer for errors. The diagnostic includes a comprehensive set of memory tests. If you are experiencing problems while running Windows, you can use the diagnostic to determine whether the problems are caused by failing hardware, such as RAM or the memory system of your motherboard. Windows Memory Diagnostic is designed to be easy and fast. On most configurations, you can download the diagnostic, read the documentation, run the test and complete the first test pass in less than 30 minutes.

Or you can try memtest

To test your hard drive for corrupt/bad sectors find the manufacturer of your hard drive and run their Hard Drive Diagnostics Utility.

This will give us a foundation to work on and will (should) eliminate two possible sources of your problem.

Ibm t61 turns on but all I get is a blank black screen.

Hi,
This sounds rather bad. You're not even getting a "thinkpad" screen?
Try unplugging the power and removing the battery for a minute and attempt to power up again.
If it's still not starting, try removing the memory modules (if there are two, remove one and try powering up, then try to remove the other one). Although I seem to remember that newer thinkpads will still show thinkpad logo and attempt to POST even with bad memory (then throw an error), it's always worth a try.
If the above don't make any difference then I'm afraid most probably your motherboard has failed. In theory you could also try swapping the cpu-I've seen a cpu go bad ONCE in my several years of tinkering with laptops.
T61 is a current model-wouldn't it still be under warranty from lenovo? Might be worth checking the serial on their website. Otherwise it's time to search for T61 donor laptops on ebay - ordering a new motherboard from lenovo parts suppliers will most probably be far too expensive.
Good luck, hope you get it working again!
