KitchenAid KGSA906PSS Gas Kitchen Range Logo
Posted on Jan 27, 2011

We have a kitchen aid KGSA906PSS00 gas range. for the first time today the wife decided to run the self clean function. At some point through the self clean the oven shut off and the control panel died. Lucky me I came home to a dead oven with a locked door and a control panel that isnt working. Where do I begin with repairs? Can I get to the electronics from the top or back since it doesnt look like I can get there from the front with the door locked?

Sounds like my problem two days ago. I have a Kitchen Aid free standing gas oven/range model
KGRI801PWH00. I read online that the thermo-fuse might've blown. I found the thermo-fuse after removing the rear panel. It was at the top/center. Mine is T-O-D (brand) 60F24; Westinghouse #8300802. I ordered mine from appliancepartspros.com for only $34.75; arrived in 36 hrs with regular shipping!! Easy to fix, sure beats several hundred $$ to repairman.

Don't bother to call Kitchen Aid - they'll just blow you off just like the hundreds of complaints said that I found online.

Self cleaning attempt has shut down the control panel.

You need an air flow kit, part 81911788 and a professional to install it.

Will not come on after self cleaning

Hi,

this is a common occurance with many self clean ranges, especially slide in and wall oven units. the kitchen aid ranges usually have a non reset hi-limit. meaning it opens one time and needs to be replaced, sadly.

to replace the thermostat can be tricky to do if you're not experienced, so if you have any reservations about taking you range apart, call a qualified tech in your area. if you decide to take a go at it, well first things first.

**FIRST unplug from the wall or shut off the breaker**

*the other issue is not knowing what model you have.

I can tell you most recent kitchen aid units made by whirlpool have a fixed hi-limit at the back outer oven wall. remove the rear panel, and the hi-limit should be easily accessed. that part # 8300802

hope that helps,

good luck

Viking Dual Fuel 6 Burner 48" OVEN DOES NOT HEAT

I hate self clean functions - If you think about it - you should too. These ranges are equipped with electronic components and running self clean at 950 degrees will more than likely burn something out. A lot of complaints are because of the self clean. It's not worth it to self clean than to clean it yourself. And 200 dollars is a great price for something like this if it includes parts and labor. Good luck.
