this is why you should visit the manufacturer's website for the newest driver and program. if the driver does not fix the problem then your webcam is toast

How to install CDR king webcam video capture hardware

When you bought your webcam, a software or driver CD should have been included in the package. Install the software first by inserting the cd/mini cd in your cd drive then follow the onscreen instructions. Read them carefully before clicking on anything. after inserting the cd, plug the webcam in a USB port.

Most webcams CDR King sell are plug and play compliant devices. Most of the time, you do not need to install anything. Just plug the device in and start using it.

On to my second web cam, tried logitech and now microsoft life cam 3.0, no problem with video but can not get any audio!!

Have you set the mic you wish to use with your webcam as Default ?

XP
Plug in your webcam or headset or mic you wish to use with your webcam
Control Panel (Classic View)
Open 'Sounds and Audio Devices' folder and click on the 'Volume' tab - make sure the speakers are not muted, open 'Speaker volume' and set the sliders toward the upper end.
Open 'Audio' tab - make your preferred mic the default device in the 'Sound recording window'
Open 'Volume' below the window to ensure the mic is not muted
Click 'Apply' and 'OK'
Restart your computer
Configure the webcam / mic to your chat program

VISTA
Plug in your webcam or headset or mic you wish to use with your webcam
TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
Right click on the volume graph and select 'Show disabled devices' and 'Show disconnected devices'
To set your preferred mic as default - click the mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

Configure to your chat program

I don't know what kind of cam I have?

1. Connect your web cam
  • Attach all power cords (e.g. laptop and/or web cam).
  • Plug your USB cam directly into your computer (do not use any external USB hubs). Turn your cam on
  • As long as your web cam and computer hardware are working, Windows should detect it!
2. Open Device Manager
  • For Vista
=> Click Control Panel. If you have Control Panel Classic View, click Device Manager
=> Click Control Panel. If you have Control Panel Home View, click System and Maintenance->Device Manager
  • For XP
=> Click Control Panel->System, then Hardware tab, then Device Manager button
3. Find your web cam in Device Manager
  • Understanding Device Names
=> Windows provides user-friendly device names to accomodate us humans. As far as Windows is concerned, the device name is simply a comment!
=> It's those cryptic Device Identification strings that really identify a device
=> Device Manager displays whatever device name it happens to find in the device driver
...==> If Windows finds NO device driver, your web cam may be named “Unknown” or "Other" device
...==> If Windows finds the WRONG device driver you may see your web cam with the WRONG device name
  • How to find your web cam
=> While your web cam is connected, look through all of Device Manager for devices with a yellow icon (probably a yellow question mark)
=> Look if a device category Other Devices. Also, be certain to expand the USB category to check all devices listed under it
=> Your web cam will appear as a device with a yellow icon (probably a question mark)
=> Click on thumbnail to see the full sized image
How to verify the device you found is your web cam
=> Your web cam device will only appear in Device Manager when the web cam is powered on and connected
=> Disconnect your web cam. Verify the device you had found is no longer displayed in Device Manager
4. Find your web cam's Hardware Ids
  • In Device Manager, select your web cam device, rt click Properties. Click Details tab
  • Select Hardware Ids from the pull-down. You'll see a list of one or more Hardware Id strings

Camera is [not] connected...

you should not have had to install anything for the cam to work on Vista. If you have installed any software, remove it. Reboot, plug your player in, open Device Manager, and remove the device that shows up representing your cam(completely uninstall it). Reboot again, and plug in your player. It should be recognized now.

Acer orbiCam

Try to unplug and plug the camera cable.
It's near power button, you need to open the cover first and you can see the cable, just unplug it and plug it again.

If this is not working, checked in device manager if your camera is recognised.

If it is recognised and still no display, try to download the application from acerpanam.com, i believe there are 2 or 3 type of camera for 3680, what you need is to get the correct application

Monitor Display Offset

Hi HarryH, Sounds like the web cam software may have changed a .dll or some other system file that the video chip is using. I would try uninstalling any software from the cam and removing and reinstalling the video drivers. Have your windows CD or the CD that came with the PC handy we might need it. Open Device Manager Control Panel > System > (or hit Windows key + Break key) and if you're using XP switch to the Hardware tab and click Device Manager. Double click Display Adapters. Right click the video adapter listed and click Uninstall. Click yes you're sure to whatever warning message comes up. Now reboot your PC. Windows should auto-detect the video and re-install the correct drivers. There IS a possibility that the first re-install could use the same bad files...so if while re-installing you DON'T get asked for the windows CD and you still have the problem after rebooting, go to the manufacturers web site and download the drivers for your system and force windows to install those files. If you don't know how and it comes down to needing to try that let me know I'll walk you through. Please come back here and comment this post, some people have been missing the "Add a comment" link at the bottom of the post. Starting a new thread to answer an Experts questions makes it hard on the prople trying to help. :) Let me know how it goes, Dude
