Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

SOURCE: Whirlpool Dryer LET7848A - no HIGH heat

have a solid state resistor for each heat setting you have a infinite ohm setting on high this tells the main board that you have an overload and therefore your high setting will not work. it's obvious that you know how to solder on a circuit board so just replace the resistor on the high temp path. your values are in increments of 10 so your high setting should register 50 ohms of resistance. this should solve the problem. please rate the solution........thanks

SOURCE: Dryer Heats on High all the time

I don't think it is the heating elements. You have checked out all the important stuff. Is there power coming from the controls on medium and low. It sounds like this is the problem.

SOURCE: Whirlpool commercial gas dryer - heating problem

Check the voltage to the switch when turned to high and the power button pushed on. If you are not getting any power there then the setting switch is bad replace it at repairclinic.com

Yes, the contact in the switch are probably dirty or burned.

Hotpoint CTD80 Clothes Dryer. Shows no error codes but high heat not working. Stats seem fine?

Question edited to add Maker.
Question moved to Hotpoint.

Most dryers have 2 elements, one for low, and one for medium. High heat is both elements together. My guess is that your medium element has failed and you are only getting low heat.

Test with a multimeter or call for service.

I have an LG Electric Dryer Model No. DLEO332W. It runs fine on ultra low or low heat, but if in the middle of the cycle I turn it to medium, medium high or high heat it cuts off.

There is a hi-temperature limit switch in the heating area that may be the issue. It can be manually reset but hard to get to. Top off, control panel off, front off.

The dryer fails to dry unless it is run for asecond cycle 2which would be usung substantial power

I assume this is an electric dryer. First, make sure you have a clear airflow path. Lint screens are not perfect, and some dryers are very prone to packing stray lint in the ductwork, especially where there are turns or changes in cross-section shape. Be sure to also check the outside vent to make sure it is not clogged.

If you have good airflow and still have problems with slow drying, check for heat. Try running one load on low heat, and another on medium heat. If on one of the cycles, the dryer never gets warm, you have a burned-out heater element. If it never gets warm, you should check for an open thermostat first, then the heaters. (High heat uses both the medium and low heaters, so you don't have to check high heat separately.)

I can't tell you what the capacity of your dryer is without the make and model (you can probably get the specifications from the manufacturer's website or user's manual). Usually, it is one full washing machine load, if the washing machine is loaded properly and the laundry is not packed in.

LG Dryer low heat doesn't work

It may be as simple as checking your lint filter.
If you use fabric softeners sheets, they tend to clog the lint filter holes. Washing it with soap and water will restore it back to normal and will allow the circulation that the dryer needs to properly dry your clothes.

Dryer only heats on medium and high settings and the medium setting is very hot. Does not heat on low at all.

If the dryer has dual or triple heating elements, one element, or the relay controlling one element, could be open circuit, ( failed). mostly likely is a failed heater element. The elements work together or separately to combine the heat settings. there could be a high and low element, that do the different ranges. it could be that when it is on medium or high, it's really a lower combination of heat, and it may not be easy to observe, but on the low settings, the chosen element is completely open and failed and provides not heat at all. if medium and high are really low and medium, and low and medium-low is really nothing, then 1 element is probably open circuit. ( failed).
