Question about JVC GR-AXM225 Camcorder

I bought a new battery charger for my JVC GR-AXM225 Video Camcorder. After the battery is charged I insert it in to the Camcorder and it only video's for 5 minutes and then shuts down. I then re-charged the battery but it still shut down within 5 minutes. Now, I went to put the battery in the camcorder after being charged for 5 hours and it only stayed on for 1 minute. Do I need a new battery or is the camcorder old and breaking down?

The camcorder won't come on.

Can you plug the camcorder into the wall via the provided dc cable and your ac adaptor? If so your battery terminal cound have gotten bent, or a fuse link could have opened up inside. check above test first.

Communication error?!

I'm betting you bought an aftermarket battery and not an original JVC battery. The error message you are getting is caused by the camcorder not being able to read the charge sensor in the battery. Some of the aftermarket batteries neglect to put that sensor in the battery, or have a sensor which does not match the OEM sensor in a factory battery. Try an original JVC battery. check the charger output if it has an DC out voltage about 8.4 volts. If it does not have, your charger is effective.
