SOURCE: Lift-Master GDO goes up, not down
If the door operates freely without any binding, while operating it manually then It would appear that the obstruction sensor mounted across the doors path is ether out of alignment, lens dirty,or malfunctioning

ADJUST THE CLOSE LIMIT SWITCH UNTIL THE DOOR CLOSE SOFTLY, UN CAN DECREASE IT BY TURNING THE FLAT SCREW COUNTERCLOCKWISE.... VERIFY THAT BOTH LEDS OF THE PHOTOCELLS ARE ONE.. OTHERWISE U GONNA HAVE TO ALIGN THEN OR REPLACE IT!

It sounds like the limits are out of adjustment. With the door down, rotate the down limit until it clicks. Then raise the door manually, and set the up limit until it clicks. You should be able to hear the switch 'click' when it activates. Pay attention to which way the plastic nuts are moving on the screw going up and down. That way you know which way to turn them to set it.
