I have a 1988 Southwind RV with a Dometic refrigerater #2801. On gas setting the blinking light does not come on to make the ignitor work. The rod goes through and turns the gas valve on. Where is the switch that turns from electric to gas? There is twelve volts available. Everything has been cleaned. The problem is in the switch wherever the switch is. Do you have a diagram of the switching? Thank You

Check your 12 volt ground
Check the fuses in the back under the cover

SOURCE: FRIDGE WILL NOT IGNITE IN GAS MODE

The part you are looking for is the thermo couple. It senses the heat from the flame and holds the gas valve open. The clicking will try three times and then go into lock out. You then will need to reset on the front of the fridge. When installing the thermo couple do not over tighten.

SOURCE: Dometic rm 2612. Shuts down on gas.

Ron;
Check the burner assembly. 1 screw, remove the sheet metal cover and clean it. The burner collects rust. This is the likely. Other issues would be the gas pressure usually checked with a manometer. Should 11" of water column. If your furnace works good then the gas pressure is probably ok. Also could have a faulty ignitor which sends a miliamp signal back to the circuit board. Check the burner first, after that leave the cover off and turn the fridge on. Watch the ingnitor attempt to lite the burner. Be sure the spark is going to the burner and not shorting out on the sheet metal it is mounted in. If it is shorting to the frame the ignitor needs replacing.

SOURCE: Dometic RV refrig light will not go out

Open up the door to the freezer, you will see two black switches upper right just above where the door would be when closed. Flip the first switch, then push the switch on the light in the fridge compartment and the light should go out. Thinking that switch is there to help reduce moisture inside fridge, just got pushed by mistake and light remains on. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: dometic rm 2801 no elec function working

If it works on gas, there are three parts that can cause this problem. 1. the switch, which is a rotary switch with multiple connections and functions; 2. the thermostat, which sometimes the contacts get arced and don't make connection, and 3 the heating element, which can burn out like a light bulb. You really need a multimeter to test all of these parts to see where the problem lies. If it doesn't work on gas there may be a problem with the cooling unit, which cannot be field repaired.

did you know this model was the subject of a recall?

Please note the following combination of refrigerator model and serial numbers are affected: · Model numbers: NDR1062, RM2652, RM2662, RM2663, RM2852, RM2862, ...

I have searched extensively for spare but they are all marked out of stock or obsolete. You best bet is to call in a gas refrigeration engineer and see if there is a similar part that can be used. It needs to be something automatic.
