Mitsubishi WD-65C9 65" DLP HDTV Logo
Posted on Jan 31, 2011

When you turn the TV on it stops at the blue Mitsubishi screen and the power button just blinks. You have to then unplug the TV to power down. Pushing the power button on the TV or remote will not power down. TV is only 1 year old. Prior to now it would shut down prior to the blue screen. The fan is working but TV still produces a lot of heat.

Hello,
There is a software update that is available for some Mitsubishi dlp models. The wd-65c9 is one of them. When I experienced your problem, I went to the website, downloaded the update, and installed it on my tv and boom, its fixed. It's super easy, free, and takes a few minutes.

Hi? I would like to know how the software update is done. can you help me please?

  • Anonymous Nov 17, 2011

Sure thing...you will need your computer and a usb or flash drive to download the program to. Just go to mitsubishi-tv.com and click on support. You will type in your model number and the website will tell you if there is a software or firmware update available. It will tell you how to download and install on your tv. Make sure you have the model and product number of your tv, you can find it on the back of your tv. Hope this helps, let me know if i can help you! Good luck!

BACKGROUND FROZEN

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, [Exclude the model number] in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Mitsubishi 73" DLP powers on, through welcome

If you are getting at turn on source and back ground is all blue the set will shut down rather quickly;

I have a suggestion, if it works fine, and if not it will not hurt anything.

with original Mitsubishi remote turn set on and then Menu, 1,2,3, enter.

This is the soft reset that most of these sets have (cannot be sure since Model number above is correct?)

The reset button on the front (if it has it) just shuts the set down and reboots the DM unit inside.

Most of these sets when it is pressed the green light will blink for about 70 seconds and go out; that is the DM unit rebooting and the soft restart is something else.

Let me know what you find before you rate this information.

How do i program this remote to a mitsubishi tv?

  • Manually turn on the device you wish to scan for (e.g. TV)
  • Perform Power Scan by pressing and holding (approximately 3 seconds)the desired DEVICE MODE button TV, VCR, CBL, DVD or SAT until the status indicator light begins to blink.
  • Press and release the PWR (power) button. The status indicator light will stop blinking and stay ON at this point.
  • Press and release slowly and patiently the blue UP ( ? ) button to scan forward through the code database. To scan backward through the code database, press and release the blue DOWN ( ? ) button. Each time you press the up or down arrow, the remote will try and turn off the device (TV, VCR etc) you originally selected.
  • When the device (TV,VCR etc.) responds by shutting off, press the ENTER button. This will store the code
  • in memory and you will see three blinks of the status indicator light to confirm the code input. Be patient, there are over 100 codes to search through.

Green (power on) light continuously blinking/set won't turn on

This set was designed in such a way that when it is unplugged and plugged back in the LED will blink for around 90 seconds and then stop. During that time you cannot turn the set on. This is the amount of time it takes for the Digital Module to boot up. These units have a problem with some capacitors going bad in the Digital Module and when that happens the LED never stops blinking. You need to contact a qualified repair shop to get it repaired. I have repaired many and the cost is around $250 to $350 depending on where you live. That set is well worth the repair cost.

Blinking Green Light on Mitsubishi DLP 52525

The 52525 is definitely going to either:

1. have the caps on the FMT/DM board replaced (not something I'd recommend you do yourself)

2. have the electrical chassis rebuilt (as sometimes, you can replace the caps and still have the problem).

wait time: 4-8 weeks
cost to rebuild: $400-$500
cost for labor: $200-$400

Green power light will not stop flashing and tv will not turn on or off

You need to replace the 1000uf capacitors on the DM board thats the classic symptom of the DM caps being bad the light continues to blink repeatedly. If you need more info on the repair let me know.
