Active Sync USB OK but City Navigator won't find device.

Just got City Navigator for my iQue M5. In the cradle, active sync operates okay with the M5 via USB, but the City Navigator can't find the M5. It worked okay with City Select. Any tips or tricks?

Somewhere I read that if you do a soft reboot to the iQue M5 it will connect to the City Navigator. I did this and it seemed to work, although between downloading and uploading I had to do it again. The process of loading map set (entire US) took an extremely long time (about 3 hours). Also, if you try to receive maps, waypoints and tracks from device all at once, it chokes.

Garmin ique 3600 hot sync issues

I had the same problem. Obtained no help from Garmin - $200 to repair.

I purchased a $7.00 IRDA (infra red) - USB device; set my Connection to IR - PC and have been able to sync without any problems. However even withupdates I have not been able to get the cradle - PC connection to work. This is not a problem however since I now use the IR connection all the time.

You must touch the screen hot sync logo not the cradle button to start the sync process.

PC/PDA "connected" yet PC won't read PDA

try syncing through bluetooth, there could be a problem with the cradle. i have had an issue very similar to yours and had to do a soft reset on my pda. then set up your device to use a blue tooth connection( you may need to buy a bluetooth dongle for your pc).

Why will my Garmin not sync into my computer?

First, right click the hotsync button in the task bar and make sure "USB" is selected (assuming you're using USB...).
If that doesn't work, let me know.

IQue 3600 missing disks

The simplest method is to update the software for the Mapping/Data, the one you probably had is sooo out of date!

IPAQ H5555 connection problems

Hi, This could be due to a few issues, try these soloutions in order below: 1) If you have a jacket connected to the ipaq it could be preventing the ipaq from locating correctly on the connector. Remove jacket and try insering again. 2) Check that active sync is set up to detect the device on the usb port. The cradle for the ipaq may have a serial and usb connector. Ensure that just the usb connector is attached to your laptop. Try connecting again. 3) You may need to uninstall the USB cradle if it was connected before installing active sync. Try the following steps if this was the case: a) unplug the USB cradle b) uninstall active sync c)Click start then click control pannel then click system. Then click on the hardware tab. Look for the device under USB, right click on the device and then select uninstall. d) restart the laptop e) Install active sync f) ONLY after active sync has installed you can now plug the cradle back into the usb socket. g) Now connect the ipaq, it should now detect it.

Can't get connection b/w PDA and desktop

Is the charging light on? Even with the light on, you may not be getting a good contact with the connector. IMHO the Garmin iQue 3600 USB cradle has the worst connector design in all gadgets I have known and used. You have to drop the PAD vertically into the connector and then lean it back to "lock" it in place. To remove it, you have to reverse the procedure. If you're not handling it gentle enough, you may bent one of the little bouncy metal contacts (making it shorter than the the rest). Look closely at the pins and make sure they are aligned in one straight line and all with same height. At one time, I have to press it tight against the base to ensure a firm contact thru out the whole sync process. Hit the sync button, if you hear the "sync sound" right away, you are ok. Otherwise, cancel and do it again. If one of the pins is shorter than the other, try to "pull" it up with a small needle nose plyer. You can also use dental-floss to wrap around the pin and pull it up. If all fails, you can start looking for a new charge/sync cradle...

Cant get it to work

If this is an IQue 3600 then you will need to install the Palm Desktop from your original IQue disk in order to sync with your new laptop. The Microsoft active-sync is for a PDA using Windows (Garmin M3 and M5 are windows based PDA w/GPS).

Help active sync will stay in limbo attempting to connect to cradled axim

Does your system detect the handheld? After you connect the cradle or cable to the computer, then you should be prompted to install drivers for the handheld. Make sure that Dell Pocket PC appears in the Device Manager.

EM-500 sync problem

There have been issues with the cradle PCB on the EM-500. Casio has redesigned the same added an IC & a few additional componentes. I had similar problems & simply could not connect through the USB port. Worked flawlessly with the accessory serial cable (direct connection - no cradle ). This also was on an XP system. See if you can wangle out a free replacement/fix for yout cradle from Casio.
