I am printing a pantone 7476C color. The areas on the left side of the page using this color gradually lighten in color as they approach the left side. All (very expensive) toners have been replaced recently. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, trying to level the toner in the cartridge did not work. I am all ears for other suggestions.

  • blakefulk Feb 01, 2011

Thanks. I did not find the "update driver" option, so I downloaded the latest driver from Kyocera and installed as new driver. I also went through the wire and grid cleaning process for each toner color. So far nothing working. Any other advice?

  • blakefulk Feb 01, 2011

I shook each toner cartridge quite well and no luck. Downloaded new driver, downloaded Window updates, cleaned wire, cleaned grid, still no luck!

  • blakefulk Feb 01, 2011

nothing working yet. I have followed all previous suggestions and am almost ready to give up and hit the bottle!

  • blakefulk Feb 02, 2011

Right on large brain person. I created a simple page with CMKY blocks on the margin and printed. The Y fades closer to the edge of page, the others do not. If my thinking is correct, this tells me that it is the Y fuser, and not the super expensive drum (which would not create a 1 color problem, but many) ......sound right?

  • blakefulk Feb 02, 2011

    Yes, isolated the issue. Thanks.

This will either be the fusor or the image drum.

The fusor is just the heating unit that melts the plastic toner onto the paper. If this is going out then the printed edge that is fading out should be rough or even dusty. You should be able to rub off some of the print. If thats the case then this needs to be replaced.

If the print is normal (ie it all sticks and isn't dusty) then it is being caused by the image drum. That is going to be real expensive to replace compared to the toners.

The last thing that I can think of that causes this is that the toner is not even in the cartridges. Usually you only get this if the toner clumps or you have printed a lot along that side or the printer has been bumped or knocked. You can fix this one if there is enough toner by taking the carts out giving them a side to side shake to even out the toner and put them back in. Just make sure to keep them level as much as you can. The toner is a real fine powder than can flow or move.

Hi there !

This problem that some prints are faded or lighten colors is caused by driver failure. It is not with the toner. The only solution is to update your printer driver.

Go to control panel, choose printer and faxes, choose printer properties, choose driver update. Be sure your connected to internet before clicking the driver update button to get the latest driver updates.

When finished, restart your computer and try to print again.

Good Luck and I hope it helps you.

    Hi

Sometimes, toner power get stuck up. You have to shake it well the cartridge inorder to distribute the powder evenly.

Another is if you can go to print quality and change the print quality to photo quality or image quality. Because normally, text quality gives your lighter print out.

I hope it solves your problem

  • Anonymous Feb 01, 2011

    Hi

Please try to go to print command

Tab display like FILE, PRINT, PROPERTIES, MAIN, QUALITY.

Choose quality and if the print is set to text, choose text and photo quality. It gives you better printing.

From here also, go to properties, and there is driver update buttom here. Just update when connected to internet.

Another solution is to chance the quality of paper. Change it to substance 60/50 like this. then try to print if it solves your problem.

    Good Luck

During shipping the toner inside the cartridges settle or cluster in one area of the cartridge and the printing become uneven. Sometime it might just require a "shake" to spread the toner evenly - give that a shot. Otherwise, the cartridge you purchased may have a problem.

My hp deskjet 6940 inkjet printer doesn't show me level of ink in cartridge

Print a diagnostic page If the steps above have not helped, print and evaluate a diagnostic page to see if the cartridges or the printer is causing the problem.
  1. Make sure the printer is on and loaded with unused, plain, white paper.
  2. Press and hold the Power button and then press the Cancel button. Release both buttons. The diagnostic page prints. Figure 1: Power and Cancel buttonsc00584735.gif 1 - Cancel button 2 - Power button
Step 4: Note which cartridges printed which areas of the diagnostic page You must identify which cartridge printed which part of the diagnostic page, so that if you find defects on the page, you will know which cartridge is the problem. However, you can install different combinations of print cartridges in your printer, and different cartridge combinations print different diagnostic page patterns. Your diagnostic page may not look exactly like the picture below, but the right and left cartridges will print in the same areas of the page no matter which cartridges are installed. Figure 2: Diagnostic page layout (the patterns in each area may look slightly different on your page)c00584715.gif 1 - Printed by the right cartridge 2 - Printed by the left cartridge NOTE: If you are printing in reserve mode (one cartridge is missing), the missing cartridge's area of the diagnostic page will be blank. Step 5: Check ink levels NOTE: If you have installed a refilled or remanufactured ink cartridge, or a cartridge that has been used in another product, the ink level indicator is inaccurate or unavailable. Look in the middle of the diagnostic page. The bars with "E" (for "empty") and "F" (for "full") at each end show the ink levels in the cartridges. As ink is used, the solid color changes to a faded color. Hi, i'm trying the PMS code Pantone 2756 C on illustrator Cs4 and what i'm getting on the screen/printed material is completely different from the color bridge that i have

You cannot match a Pantone swatch book to your monitor unless you have calibrated it using something like Huey: http://www.pantone.com/pages/products/product.aspx?pid=562&ca=2 as a monitor is backlit and printed materials are not.

Depending on what sort of printer you are using, it also may need to be calibrated or have its profiles updated.

I am the Graphic Artist and Printer for a public library. We have a logo that has the Pantone color PMS 375 green in it. I mix my own inks and have no problem reproducing the color properly on a printing...

Laser printers, although they have a larger color gamut than a CMYK offset press, still will not be able to reproduce a majority of Pantone special colors.
Professional inkjet printers, especially those using more than 4 inks, are far better at this - the ink pigments are more color-pure and concentrated than those in laser toners.
Remember, that Windows print drivers work in RGB, and use ICC profiles to convert color data to CMYK components for printer. If you have a CMYK file, and look at it on your monitor, it's converted (using monitor ICC profile) to monitor's RGB colorspace, and then back to CMYK with the printer ICC profile when printed. Converted twice with ICC, which always introduces distortions...
If you have a properly calibrated monitor, and a good printer profile installed, you have better chances of reproducing screen colors on the printer, especially if you work in RGB.
As a simple, but laborious solution, I would suggest preparing "swatch sheets" yourself using some graphics software. Preferrably in RGB, not CMYK. A series of gradients with the green component going from, say, half way to maximum, and other components in various combinations, like R0 B0, R10 B0, R20 B0,... then R0 B10, R10 B10, R20 B10... and so on. Print those, and try to find a spot in the gradients that is the closest to your color sample, and then make swatches with smaller increments around that color to find the best RGB combination.
Good luck :)

Cannon MP600 will not print accurate photo colours

First clean and align the printer correctly.

You will need to ensure that you have selected Photo Glossy Paper for best results. You will also need to adjust the gamma settings and also play with the colour saturation controls to achieve a good colour balance that you are happy with.

Try printing a basic colour additive chart and comparing screen against printout and adjusting settings as required.

or use a paint tool or PhotoShop etc to create solid colour blocks of basic colour to compare against.

Color matching

If this is a print problem and not just a screen issue, here's what I suggest.

In Illustrator, double click the colour swatch for the Pantone Book colour you are using and obtain the CMYK values.

In Quark, instead of using the same Pantone Book colour, create a new Process colour with the same CMYK values as the Illustrator swatch.
