Wife was watching tv when the tv went black but still has sound. thought it was the dish network but they walk her through it all and no pic what so ever even if we switch to dvd or the Wii just sound and no pic just black screen.

I'm happy to have found your reply because I have a similar but slightly different problem. Since a few days ago, when I turn my 42LG30 TV on, I see the input source in the upper right corner (fx. HDMI 1) and after 2 seconds the picture just fades out to a black screen. Sound can be heard though. After reading your answer here, I would guess that the problem in my TV lies with the inverter and not in the bacllight since the screen shows for 2 seconds every time I turn it on. This happand of-course 1 month after the warrenty expired - damn. Is there a chance that I am right?
