it sound like you need to check your instruction book for the compatibility setting between the monitor and computer. see if your monitor has an auto feature, if so press it with the computer hooked up to it. this is if you are using the 15pin hd connection. otherwise it could be a setting on your menu of the monitor to change the refresh rate.
