Hi; I have Canon IR 2030, but when I press the scanner online tab on the screen it showing me a phrase saying ( cannot shift to the online state ), so can anybody find me the solution please as soon as possible because I word in this copy machine from 2 days ago and I don't want to be lating in my job. I think "waste toner full".... left lower rear corner remove screw--- & small panel-- empty container in next persons desk drawer-- cleanXXXX better yet cut out small window in neck of container both sides--- reinstall.... power up.

Just before the laptop boots, a Toshiba screen opens inviting F2 or F12. This will let you into the BIOS menu if you press F2 at that time. When you are there, find Default Settings in the menu and press F10 and enter.
That is now set to default and you can start the restore process.

wich is the error code that machine shows? i.e. E00002-000
You said that machine says turn off and on, these happens when the error code is present.
And by the way do you mean IR2016J, 2116 do not exsist!

1) install Network ScanGear software from canon officiall site, search under ir 3300, and among all drivers there is scangear too.
2) when you install scangear, open it and press discover button, but the light scan on copier must be on, and set on ONLINE.
3) Then over eg. word2003 go to insert-pic.-from scaner or cam.-choose scangear- custom insert.

Had the same problem with my Canon IR2018i... After spending about all day stuffing around and ready to give up... I read in the Color Network Scangear User Manual that
"Only scanners on the same subnet (network with the same network ID) as your computer are displayed in the list"
So I went the the TCP/IP settings on my copier and changed my subnet mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.255.255 and magically my scanner appeared....
Give it a go...

Read the Manual (comes with Tool). If you don't have the Tool download it from the Canon site. Go to the copier and press the System/Options button next to Copy/Mailbox/Fax. Press Online. Then try scanning. Go back to copier and press Offline so can photocopy again.

On the device you want to chose the SCAN option and set it to ONLINE.
You then need an application that does TWAIN scanning and aquire image data. Set your scanner device yo "Canon Color Network Scangear".
A freeware product you can use to test is irfanview
You would otherwise need to do an aquire / TWAIN scan from MS Word or Adobe Acrobat (full/pro) or another software that does TWAIN scanning.

I am not "at" a 3220 but I will try to visualize. On the "op" panel to the right of the display is a button that looks like an asterisk and says additional funcions.Press it. Bottom left tab says "system settings". Press it. New menu,right side , second tab, says network settings. Press it. At that point you should see tcp/ip settings. Press this tab and you will see the ability to manipulate many of your network settings."NOTE" this device is indeed capable of supporting being set to DHCP. You of course understand the pitfalls of having a printer set to dhcp. It is almost always recommended that a printer/scanner/fax/document server/ have a static ip address.
