If the breaker tripped, something shorted to ground in your control panel. You resetting the breaker and pushing the power button then cause something to burn further. I would suggest turning off the breaker then taking the control panel off to see where the "burning smell and small amount of smoke" came from. Look to see if a wire was rubbing against metal somewhere.
SOURCE: How do I remove the selector knob on washer
The main selector control know spins off by turning the selector inner knob counterclockwise. The outer ring will then pull off. The other knobs are held on with friction and should just pull off.
The best way to get behind the front panel is by removing the top panel of the machine. There should be 2 gray/solver tabs at the back of the machine near the top if you remove the 2/4 screws from the top then the whole top panel will slide forward then lift off.
Be sure to unplug the machine first.

no fuses only control boards.with power off pull the top off and check wires at your power supply board(not the one with buttons). Look for burn or damaged wires. no luck with that, will probably need power board(usually the board that goes out). Call LG and speak to cust service....sometimes will cover the board.

replace the main control unit under the inits top cover in the left rear top corner & inside the plastic cover if when you open the cover that protects the mainboard from water spray(if theres NO RED LED lit on the control board) then its the board that needs replacing,if it has the LED lit then run the diagnostics per the tech sheet located inside the machine and it will tell you whats actually wrong, next step is to replace the touch pad located around the selector knob on the front face of the unit
SOURCE: My LG washer powers off completely after running
I had the same problem with my LG washer today. I found another post that said to hold down the start pause button 5 seconds, plug back in so you have power, run on drain/spin at highest spin speed. I did it and so far after each load it has not shut down.
