I purchased a Sony DCR-SR200 camcorder less than one year ago from a Best Buy. Just the other day, I turned it on and the LCD screen started "scrolling" vertically. The entire screen scrolls continuously, including the menu. Have you seen that problem before
After researching various flexible cable numbers from different posts, I found that the SR-200 uses a unique cable, FP-610, part number 187145711. This has been discontinued and replace with part number 187145721 (same cable also used in DCR-SR300).
If you are in doubt with your camera, just take it apart up to the point of seeing the ribbon cable. The part number is printed on the side.
I found two sources for this so far, www.nexttronics.com and https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-parts.aspx. Price ranged from $30 to $40 plus shipping.

This model does not have a viewfinder, only the LCD screen
I have the same problem with my DCR-SR200, I took it apart and concluded there is a thin cable that has a broken wire segement, if I press just right on the cable, the screen is fine. Now, where to find a replacement cable?
Since a few days I have the same problem with my dcr-sr35. Has any of you found a solution for this?
If I gently twist the viewfinder back to the "close" position, the scrolling stops.
I thought it might be a loose cable, so I took the camera nearly completely apart and reseated all viewfinder cables. There are two - one that has the video signal, and one that detectes when the viewfinder is flipped 180 degrees to the front.
Didn't old TVs do this when they lost vertical sync? Could this be a bad diode or some other failed electronic component in the viewfinder?
My SR200 just started doign this today. I thought it was a loose cable, but I took the camera (completely) apart and reseated them - it fixed it at first, but after a few power ons, the problem returned.
Didn't old TVs have a scrolling problem like this when they lost vertical sync? This seems like it would be localized on the controller board behind the viewfinder, like a bad diode or something.
I have same problem. The video screen rolls. Sometimes the background is also dark. I've taken it apart and reassembled five times. It seems like a switch is not engaging/dis-engaging properly. There are two micro-switches, one turns the screen on when the door is opened, the other flips the display when twisted to the front position. I even disassembled the switch that turns the screen on and no change. (I don't recommend this; it requires a magnifying glass and tremendous patience - plus, it didn't help). I'm thinking it may be a loose solder connection, possibly on a small capacitor mounted on the touch-screen circuit board. Very frustrating.
turned it on and the LCD screen started "scrolling" vertically. The entire screen scrolls continuously, including the menu.
