I have an Hitachi 53sdx01B rear projection HD TV. Worked great until yesterday when it seemed like the contrast or brightness got out of whack. Whites appear to be overly bright, to the point that Comcast menus and scrolling text at the bottom of ESPN screens are so blurry they are nearly unreadable. I tried a number of contrast and brightness adjustments from the main menu and it helps some, but not really.

No one has it in stock--board should be repairable unless lost etc.

You might also contact PTS Electronics who repairs boards and may have one of these rebuilt as well.

If its the board with the RCA jacks it may be fixable.

It's a board in the chassis. Time for a visit to/from the good TV doctor.

The best setting are the ones you prefer the most.In general most sets are optimized for 50% on color and tint and usually 70% or more for bright and contrast.

sounds like the convergence is out of whack. you will need to call a local repair shop and see if they can realign the color guns inside the unit. this is actually a really common problem with moving a rear projection screen.

I have the same problem. I was able to temorarily fix the issue by taking the back cover off and blowing all of the dust out. But this only worked for two days. Now the problem is back. Did you fix the issue with your tv? Thanks.

Try lowering Brightness first.Not contrast leave it up middle range.

2.5 ohm resister at 2 watts at R43 is bad on the 53sdx01b same boards as my tv , when mine went it was at 12 ohm instead of 2.5

i have a 50" r.p. Hitachi, kinda had the same problem, it would go off at different times and i't hit on the back and get it to come back on,but after awlhile i'd have to hit it more and harder to get it back on till it quit, the menu would come on and would show the video 1 ,3 and that in the corner.After paying $75 for a guy to say it wasn't worth fixing i tried myself. Not knowing what i was doing, i checked all wire plug connections. Found 2 that wasn't seated good replugged them and still didn't work then tried the bulbs, just kinda jiggled all 3 one didn't feel the same so just tapped on it alittle and it popped, i guess back into place, anyway turned on the tv and it worked. Had moved it recentlly so i don't know if that is what moved the bulb. Hope this helps, also mine is a '94 model.

The first thing to try is rescanning the Freeview channels as it may just be a software corruption...if you have the option of "1st time installation" pick that.Also let me know if there is any buzzing sound coming from the tv..

This problem may have been coming from the Flyback Transfromer or the Tippler, you have to be a technician to adjust that! if you are, well first thing is to put the TV ON and sent up all the level to max for the brightness & Contrast, then after try to adjust the Flyback screen voltage for hi bright, if it work there, try back now to see if you are getting any control of the menu of brightness & contrast to work! please be careful, there about 28K volts to 35K volts, this can kill anyone...
