Lifted up the dehumidifier onto a counter to empty the bucket and removed/clean the filter. Completed this task, replaced the filter and bucket, then sat the dehumidifier and it tilted a bit backward but did not tip over. It was firmly placed on the floor and then plugged in. I pushed the power button, everything lit up but the fan did not start. I increased the settings than decreased them but nothing allowed the fan to start. I have unplugged it. Is it possible that by having this tilt back a bit when placed on the floor that the fan will not work for awhile?? Other thoughts? Regards.

It does have a tilt over safety feature. But if it wasn't plugged in when it tilted, it shouldn't have tripped the switch. However, if it was plugged in, it probably tripped the switch. Check your Owners Manual for how to reset the switch.

How to clean the filter

Good Afternoon Tad, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

First remove the bucket to reach the filter of your Frigidaire dehumidifier, FAD504DUD. When you locate the filter, pull it downwards. The filter can be clean by either washing it with clean water or using a vacuum cleaner extension hose. If you use clean water, please allow the filter to dry. Once the filter is reinstalled then replace the bucket. To extinguish the light simply press the FILTER button and your dehumidifier will resume normal operations.

Hope this helps!

Says bucket full and it is empty

There is a float switch somewhere to measure the level of water in the bucket. That switch is out of position or broken. This can happen if you are not careful removing and re-installing the bucket. Look at the area around the bucket and you should be able to find and fix the switch. Make sure the power is off when you are doing this.

Dehumidifier smells stinky

Have you read its manual? http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Edison/2020266a0220en.pdf

It says (p8):

Care and Cleaning
1. Filter
a. Remove the filter every two weeks based on normal operating conditions.
b. To remove the filter, remove Bucket then pull filter downwards.
c. Wash the filter with clean water then dry.
d. Re-install the filter, then replace Bucket.
2. Cabinet
a. Dust cabinet with an oil-free cloth, or using a damp cloth.
b. Vacuum grill using brush attachment.
3. Water Bucket
a. Clean bucket with warm water and detergent.

I recommend you to use a mix 75% water, 25 % vinegar. To clean its water bucket.

Lg dehumidiffier will not start bucket is empty light says otherwise

We had a similar situation and the problem was solved when we removed and cleaned the filter which is accessible once the bucket is removed in the front (pull it down and out). Ours was very dirty and it sits between the humidity control dial and what we believe to be a sensor. Once cleaned, the compressor engaged immediately.

I purchased this dehumidifier three years ago. It has been working fine up until about two weeks ago. I have the humidity setting at 40%. It is located in my basement which is not very damp. It now runs...

Jeanne, unless your unit is what's called a "Low Temperature" unit (these are designed for basement application) , that may be the problem. In addition, the air intake filter may need to be removed & cleaned.

If yours is not a Low Temp model, raising it up of the floor onto a sturdy table or counter top that can handle the weight of the unit and a full bucket of water, may solve the problem. The reason for this is in a basement, the air temp at floor level is colder than at shoulder level. Non Low temp units struggle to operate at temperatures below 65 degrees. Raising the unit up off the floor onto a sturdy table or counter top, that is strong enough to handle the weight of the unit, plus a full bucket of water, will usually resolve the problem.

I hope this information helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.
