Screen is black with a wierd splintered color

I was tossing the remote to my family when it accidently bounced off him and hit the very far left of the screen. The screen went black and there looks like a splattering of shattered color but to feel the screen it is still smooth. It is a SONY Bravia. My daughter is very ill and we were just about to sell it to help her. Can you tell me what to do

I have a 2 year old Bravia model KDL 40S20L. It began to exhibit problems last week delaying the switch from channel to channel. Now it has a black screen.. After 30 seconds a band of colored dots appears along bottom of screen and, sometimes, 4 vertical lines - orange, green, blue, rose - flash on and off on right side of screen. What is wrong?.

Unfortunately it sounds like you cracked the LCD panel. This can not be repaired other than changing the panel itself. I don't have a listing for the KDL-40S2000, but similar 40" sets have replacement panels that run in the $2400 range.

Hi i have a 40 samsung tv.My grandson Accidently hit the screen with the wii remote ,How much would it cost to repair ??

Just to order a replacement panel will cost you $150-$200 for a used panel. New panels will probably be double the price of a old one. This doesn't include labor costs. Typically most experts suggest that if repairs will cost more than half of the price of a new TV set, you do not repair you replace.

Accidently pushed Zz button at top of key board Screen went black what now??

Sounds like you've put your computer into sleep mode. Hitting Escape or clicking the mouse will usually bring it out. Otherwise just tap the power button one (on the tower, not the monitor) and that should bring it out!

Ok, first make sure you or someone in family didn't hit the "HD Zoom" on your cable remote or whatever kind of remote you have. On ours - Cable- if you hit it once it is in "Normal" picture which on ours has black around edges on a non Hd channel. Then if you hit it again it Zooms once makes pix very large and if you hit button a third time brings it into a wide screen Zoom that fills the Tv screen. If we are viewing HD channels I put it on Normal which will fill the screen and give you the best HD pix. If we are viewing a NON HD channel, then normal will have black on sides, so I hit the Zoom a couple times to fill in the screen. My brother in law had this problem and couldn't figure out why his Sports channel Scores were always half cut off the screen! it was zoomed in too much for that channel. His sports channel was in HD so needed to be on normal instead of zoomed in.
if it is not the Cable remote then this is a second possible cause:

The other thing that happened to me was - we hardly ever use our original TV remote that came with the TV. but one day our picture looked weird and the cable remote didn't adjust it. One of us had hit the "P SIZE" button on the TV remote. this changes your pix from - 4:3 ratio to 16:9 ratio and vice versa. I put clicked that button and on the TV it shows whether it is at 4:3 or 16:9. For newer wide screen TVs you want that set at 16:9 ratio.

All cable company remotes probably are a bit different so check with your company ... to find out where the zoom control is on their remote.

Did you accidentally hit the lower left "Disp" button on the back of your camera? It manually turns the screen on or off to save batteries. Turn the camera on and press it once to check.

Unwanted black rectangle on the TV screen

I'm not sure what type of TV you are using,, but most all Large Screens have a reset button someplace. You should be able to reset the TV and fix the problem. Its not the remote, making the image appear, but a command from it was misinterpeted. Sometimes turning the set off will work, but most often it needs to be reset.

EXCEPTION... if you are using a cable box. Disconnect it from power, wait 1 minute and then see if the problem exists. If the cable box is on even with the DVD you may still have this issue. Please reset the cable, and if that doesn't work, reset the TV.
Thanks! //D
