Tv turns on and immediately goes off. then the red blinking light comes on which the book indicates it needs service. upon calling a tech he tells me the lamp is out. but I can find a panel and take the cover off, remove the door and take out the cartridge holding the lamp. then he will replace the lamp at the shop. but we can't find the door to get to the cartridge! help Sony Bravia model KDL-40W3000

I have just downloaded and read the manual.

This is NOT a back projection TV, it is a standard LCD tv.

The error code you are getting means it needs to be serviced but there is no user serviceable lamp.

There is a backlight for the LCD but that is not a user serviceable item and would be difficult and expensive to repair.

The 13 blinks means the inverter board has failed, this powers the back light for the LCD screen.
