I have a samsung le40m61b television it has recently started losing the picture and the background is florescent panels are lighting up. I had it to a TV expert for a repair and he said that the power supply is ok but the there are some fault on the power control board400W2C4lV1.4 and it should cost to much to fix it. I find the control board on internet and bought a new one. The problem is still there after I have put in the new circuit board. I can get the TV working 100% correct if I turn on the TV for 5-6 hour so to say warming it up without any picture. After this time I try to turn if off and on and in the most cashes it turn on correct. If I not turn it off it and leave it on the TV seems to working correct for days. I often turn it on for weekends because I can not be sure that I can get on any more time. I check all caps on the power board an also change some of them to see if it helps but up to now nothing have helpt. Can any one of you give me some tips how I should solve this problem. Going back to the TV repair shop is no option. He have already failed in locating the problem and cost me 100 us$ Best regards L_G Nielsen

SOURCE: Samsung TV won't turn on- trying to fix it. A challenging problem

I had the same problem. I live in NJ and called the local authorized "service provide" listed on the Samsung website. What a joke. Quoted $350 just to show up, never showed up. So I opened my own TV. Took off the plastic back (10 screws) took off the large metal RF shield (12-14 screws) and noticed a blown component. The markings on the component were KL15L and it is apparently an NTC Thermistor. Obviously it got fried and not knowing if there was other damage I decided to set out to replace the entire Power PCB Board Assembly and not the component. There were two part numbers on the assembled board (BN97-00457E & BN94-00622E). After searching online I also found a suitable replacement number for these (BN96-04896A). I found two places who claimed to have the part or have it on order (shopjimmy.com and vancebaldwin.com). After placing orders with both and having neither come through, I broadened my search and found out that the LNR409D was basically the same model as my LNR408D so I looked for its Power PCB Board Assembly part number which turned out to be BN41-00521B. Google search for that part number showed the item available on ebay. I bought it a week ago (ebay 260311519904) for $144 plus $12 shipping. I removed the bad board an hour ago (6 screws about 7 connectors) installed the new one, plugged in the connectors, replaced the covers, plugged in the TV... AND IT WORKS!
Suggestion: If your TV is out of warranty then open it up (what have you got to lose) and see if the problem is obvious and maybe something you can fix (replace) yourself. The parts, spare boards, etc. are out there if you look.

I have a LG plasma TV. The picture won't come on but the sound does. It's a 52" model# 50pc50-ul. Production code 50pc50-ul AusYLSJR. Power 100-240v~50/60 Hz 4.5. Pcc ID: BEH50Pc5DUL.

This TV is 2007-2008 vintage. If you've had it this long without losing the picture, you've been lucky. Plasma and LCD panels are excited electrically to generate images, but they do not produce adequate light on their own to make the image visible. Thus, manufacturers install a backlight circuit which treats the LCD/Plasma panel much like a slide in a slide projector. When this backlight fails, you lose the visible image, even though the image is still on the panel. Older sets such as yours used florescent bulbs to light the screen. The use high-voltage inverters (ballast) that are the usual failure culprits. Newer sets use LED lighting. These use far less current and tend to last longer, but the jury is still out on their longevity as they are fairly new to the market. Inverters can be replaced, but be advised, as the florescent bulb ages, its color will change and it will affect image quality. So you may want to consider upgrading to a newer set.

Why does my samsung lcd have sound but no picture?

Sounds like either the CCFL tube (like a mini florescent tube) or the inverter that powers it has blown.

Per magnavox 37mf231d I switched tcon board, and put an older main board that I had laying around, now the tv tries to turn on, there is a background light for about 5 seconds and then it shuts off.

Hello, I think it either had a bad back light board or one of the florescent tubes in the display has gone bad. As these sets get older, I see more of the florescent tubes going bad. I think there are 9 in that set, and all it takes is one of them to go out to cause the set to shut down. You may also look for a bad connection on the transformers on the back light board.....thanks, let me know

Lg plasma tv screen flickerin

HelloThe problem shows the refresh rate. Quite propably that you are seeing the much slower beat or heterodyne. Often caused by artificial ambient lighting like florescent tubes or faulty dimmers on halogen's etc causing the beat with plasma screens.

Otherwise you need to check power supply

Not getting a picture from a Samsung 46" LCD TV

check if the back lamps are still on when you lose image, all you have to do is get close to the screen and make is totally black and if is not that means you have a back light working, but if the back light is gone you may have a defective panel.

talked to samsung TA about the same problem I had and the recommend to replace the power supply first to confirm a defective panel because a panel is quite expensive

Plasma Tv panel only have a lifetime of 10000 hours. the phosphor inside the panel and the zenon, xenon gas only will last so long . Pretty much like a florescent light bulb.
