Sph200d not getting ip address from router

Hello,

I am using sph200d for at least a year now. Over the past few days, we had some power interruptions at home and after that I've been encountering a number of problems.

Current situation:
1) Landline calls work without any problem (so handset is registered with base station)
2) Even though I see the green Lan link light on the base station and the wifi router showing that the link is connected on the port, it appears that the base station is not getting an ip address from the router.
3) Handset perpetually shows "system is starting up" message.
4) Cannot access many menu items on the handset. Get "Unavailable" message. Examples of inaccessible menus: Network, Date/Time, CAll settings, Network proxy, Information.

I've reset the base station (including the 5-second) and the handset. Deregistered & re-registed to the base station but to no avail.

Can some one suggest a solution for this ? I'm cannot access the web page of the phone since there is no ip for it.

Thanks & REgards,
Sreedhar

    Hello,

Out of the blue, the phone starts to work. I've absolutely no logical idea why this happened.

The only silly explanation I can think of is this:

As indicated in my original post, the network link seemed to up but dhcp seemed to the problem. Perhaps, the phone has a memory effect (!?!?!) of coming back to original state only if a previous ip prior to the power crash was available to it once again. Sounds illogical, but that's as close as I could to find a logical reason for it after it has not worked for over a month without touching it. The only difference I could think of is that today, I had powered on 3 other devices to connect to the wireless router and the skype one was the 4th.

    Comments are welcome.

I put in selected country and the handset says "system is starting up...searching please wait..." continuously. I have disconnected base unit to access menu when entering "reset" comes up unavailable!! With whatever sequence selected have the same result appears in an unbreakable loop. Also battery discharges fairly rapidly Any solutions?

The phone can't make Skype out calls, yet can connect to Contacts and shows that I am connected yet offline. I cannot change the Status to Online either. I've tried resetting everything too several times. Phone is not getting IP address either.

    Help please. Thank you.

System is starting up message all the time and no possibility to enter any of the network panels, only local ones work.

Noway to have it working also after base and handset general reset. Anyone knows what to do ?
Through it away is the last chance ?

I had the same problem. I set up a static address instead and it works very well. I just copied the details form my laptop, diabled the laptop and set up the phone with the same details as I had on my laptop. Once I start the laptop again, it will get another address. --Jonas

I reset my modem and now i cant get my wifi back on

If your modem pulled a new or different ip address and you did not reset your router it could be trying to use the old IP address and there would be a conflict. IP addresses usually have a lease of 24 hours, S if your IP was refreshed at noon and you reset your mdem and for sopme reason it obtained a new ip address the router would not be able to connect until noon the following day when it tried to refresh. Rebooting the router should cause it to sync back up with the modem and pull the correct IP address. You may need to log into your router and manually release and renew the IP address even after rebooting your router, I have seen a few routers that would still not pull the new address unless this was done.
My preferred method is to unplug power from the router, then reboot the modem. Only after the modem is synced back up do I plug power back into the router, so far this has seemed to work the best.

I have started to not be able to connect two

hello,
i belive i know what is happening
what is happeing is that ur router is giving you the same IP address to both your computers this happens alot when you have a network,
what you would have to do is call the manufature of that device the one giving the wireless signal then tell them that your the router is giving the same ip´s to both PC´s or laptops and they would force the ip´s depending on the settings that you would be using at this time

I cannot connect to my router via the IP in the browser

Check first the cables and connections, and the broadband filter.

You need to connect through cable to configure the router.

To access the router panel you need to input the router IP address on Internet explorer bar.

default IP is http://192.168.0.1

If IP is not default, you find out IP by opening the command prompt from start menu>>all programs>>accessories>>system tools (that kind of dos mode). On command prompt type ipconfig/all.
The default gateway is router IP.

On the router access panel default settings are :

User Admin
Password leave blank

See all procedures on manual below.

Copy and paste the address below on your browser address bar.

Power indicator keep on blinking

hello!

blinking power light after firmware upgrade sometimes indicates that the upgrade is not sucessful or the firmware that you load is incorrect.

-- try to reset the router for 30secs and check if the power light is still blinking
-- if its still blinking check your pc's ip address while connected to the router
-- if the ip address of your pc is invalid (169.x.x.x.) turn to manually assign static ip address to your computer and check if you can ping your routers ip address
-- if you can ping the routers ip address, upload the correct firmware to your router
-- if you cant ping your routers ip address still, reset the router again and try to ping the routers ip address once again
-- try to change port and cables
-- if still unable to ping the routers ip address, chances are that the router might be defective now

HP C6100 Wireless printer has stopped working

The HP C6100 series has had some ip setting issues. One day my printer didn't print. I checked the ip settings on the printer and got some 648.154.1.654 address. I had no clue where this ip number came from, because my router's ip is 192.168.0.1. I went into the settings of my printer and set my ip settings manual. Then I went into the router settings and reserved the ip setting I previously setting on the printer to the printers MAC address. I also set static ip address for each computer on my network. This network response issue started about one year after I purchased the printer. I still lose connection every once in a while, but rebooting the router reconnects the printer and everything sitting in the que to print starts to print. To stablize the issue: upgrade router firmware, set static ip address on your network devices, reserve those ip address in your router, , if all else fails reboot router.

Belkin router

What you are talking about would be data encryption.http://www.guardianedge.com/products/Encryption_Anywhere/index.html Once information gets past your router, its past your router. Your router is helping keep out any outside hackers. Your router is what is considered a "hardware firewall" It takes your outside IP address and changes then multiplies the address to make as many connections(up to 255) per router. If your router is set to DHCP your address changes every 2 days or so. Your cable modems' address also changes every few days. That makes it hard for anyone to hack into your machine. Tim

Multiple WAN IP Addresses with a Linksys Router

Yes, however we recommend using the following procedure is the only way you can do so without a block of IP addresses. The example below is for instances where you have multiple public IP addresses that are not in block form. For our example the ISP has given us 3 Public IP addresses. One goes to the FTP server, Web Server, and the Router. You can setup the router for whomever your ISP is. If you have a dynamic IP address and you're unsure on the setup, please see the article on setting up the router with a static IP address. If you have a static IP address please our article on setting up static IP addresses with the router, and it will describe how to setup the router with a static IP address. Once the router is setup, it will provide the 3 PC's (In our example) with internet access. The remaining two public IP addresses should be assigned to the WEB Server and the FTP server. Note - The Web and FTP servers will not be on the Local Area Network of PC-1, PC-2, and PC.
