The pump is blocked or the pump could be bad and need to be replaced.remove the bottom panel.if water is still in the tub,get a shop vac and vac out the water,then you'll see in the middle of the pump a piece that unscrews.turn it slowly counter clockwise,when the water starts to leak vac it up until it stops leaking and remove the middle piece out of the pump,clean out the catch,put the piece back in,add a little water to the machine and put it on drain,if it drains then you are done,if it doesn't you'll need a new pump.call your parts store,give them the model number and they will sell you the correct pump.good luck,if you need any more help let me know and send the model number

Flashing display 7 mins into cycle. Water drains away and eventually display goes blank. Help?
Do you get an F21 code or some other code.

An F21 code means the water is not draining away properly. There may be plugged pipe.

Here are some tips to help you:

1. Check to make sure the washer's drain pipe is draining properly.
2. Check the drain hose to see if there are any kicks or clogs in it.
3. Check the washer for excessive subs. Sometimes excessive subs can also keep the water from draining.

Of course, the above tips are useful only if you have a F21 code. If you have other error codes, you'll have to look at the manual that came with the machine.

My washer is flashing F21 when I push power it drains then goes off.
On kenmore washers F21 means a slow drain problem exists. There could be two issues. The pressure switch which is used to tell the washer the water has been fully pumped out or there is a lot of debris in the drain catch. Hope this helps, good luck!

The F21 error code indicates a long drain. Here are some tips that should help you resolve this problem:
  • Check your washer drain to make sure that it is draining properly.
  • Check the drain hose for kinks and clogs. Make sure that it is installed properly per the instructions in your owner's manual. An improperly installed drain hose can prevent the washer from draining properly.
  • Check for excessive suds in the washer tub. Excessive suds can prevent the washer from draining properly and will result in the F21 code. Make sure that you are using the proper amount of HE (High Efficiency) detergent to prevent excessive suds.
Remove any clothes and then use a wet/dry shop vac to drain any water out of the washer.

Arrange shallow pans and/or towel in front of the large item filter shown in the second image below to catch residual water when you remove this filter.Remove the large item filter as shown below. It is likely that you will find a clog in this area that is preventing your washer from draining.

If you do not find any clog or restriction in the large item filter and none of the other issues discussed above apply to your situation, then you could have a failed drain pump. If the pump is damaged and will not pump out water then it will need to be replaced.

Hi,
When F21 error code appears press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear the display.
Also check for the following issues

1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
4. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7.
7. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
8. Replace the pump.

What do you do if you get an F21 code on a Kenmore Elite HE 3t steam front load washer
The F21 error code is an indication that the unit has a too long of a drain out condition. If the control call for the unit to drain & the water does not drain out in 8 minutes or less the unit will stop & flash the F21 error code. I would recommend checking the drain pump & pressure switch circuit.

The F21 signal keeps flashing.
f21 is long drain, failed to drain in 8 mins. f27 is overfill, overfill contacts on pressure sw closed. If unit did actually successfully drain normally then pressure sw is likely the problem.
1. did pump come on? if no replace pump
2. is unit draining at normal rate? no then clean pump.
if yes on both replace pressure sw.
to second poster if getting suds error when using HE then you likely are using to much detergent. If avail run a clean washer cycle.
or normal cycle with bleach or fabric softner, no clothes

My washer stops in the middle and flashes F21?
Hi and welcome to FixYa,

An F21 error code indicate drain problem. Might you want to inspect/clean the drain system from the filter to catch basin to impeller, pump/valve and drain hose. To do this, the bottom/kick panel ahs to be removed. A bit of a messy job so pls be prepared with paper towels and other absorbent materials.
