SOURCE: Mouse cursor moving by itself

In windows xp go into start menu, then into control panel then click on appearance and themes, then move your mouse over to mouse pointers click on it , uncheck "enhance pointer precision, and click apply, that will stop the mouse from acting crazy, this will work with dell mouse pointers and most.

SOURCE: the touch pad on my compaq presario CQ60is not working

The drivers for the device may be corrupted or uninstalled. Please update/reinstall suitable drivers using the drivers cd (supplied by compaq) and restart your system. This will definitely solve your problem.

SOURCE: Compaq Presario CQ50 + over sensitive touch pad

Try the mouse settings in the control panel, also try uninstall any touchpad software and remove any touchpad software from running when the pc boots.
To do this either type msconfig into the run/search box or a program like cc cleaner under tools/startup

My compaq laptop is asking me for a administrator password or power on password it alos say System Disabled (996974482)

Hi.

That is a BIOS password that you will never get past without the master password. I suggest that you get in touch with HP and request the password from them, you will have to provide proof of purchase before they will supply you with the password.

Hi, I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 & the scroll area on my mouse pad isn't working. Can this area be turned off and if so, is there a way to turn it back on/unlock it?

The scroll pad on the touch pad needs a particular driver Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. This will actually run at the startup after installed which will activate the functionality of scroll on the touch pad. You can also actually turn this function on and off so this is a friendly user.
If you do not have that driver that comes with your laptop you can go here:

I would verify that you have the compaq drivers installed for the mouse pad NOT the microsoft defaults alot of the time they add functionally like the double tap click and things like that. The link is
