Normally 512MB is a good configuration of Ram to work with Windows Xp Sp2 but you have clean your temporary files frequently
Increasing RAM will not give you much speed difference because first you have study the Motherboard Bus speed and the cache memory - Actual speed increase from those things and the compatibilty.
Changing Ram you have to determine what type of ram and its bus speed whether its a SD Ram or DDR1 or 2 I hope now days SD ram cost more because its outdated and DDR1 is also bit costly than DDR2.

hi ,
u can go for max512 mb..dont go 1 gb as this will hamper the speed of ur mobile..& if u switch to 512 mb..do try to keep all the stuff in memory card rather than sim memory..transfer mostly all the things from phone memory to mem card. This will sort the speed problem of ur mobile
Thanks

Thanks for the input. I'm very computer illiterate but it seems like you might be saying that with an older system like this it might not be worth the effort or money put into it. I'm sure your answer is good - but a little over my head technically speaking!
