Cease using the mixer until it is repaired. One or both of the amps have blown. Further use MAY result in power supply damage. 1 to 6 switching power transistors will have blown and often a Zener diode or two. If the metering resistors smoked, there will be two small surface mounted transistors per channel blown wide open as well. These are all in the HCA2400 amplifier module.
fredy, is there a repair package I can buy to repair or a parts lists and place to purchase? I live in Costa Rica and do not have access to a repair center so may need to fix it myself. I do appreciate your time. enjoy your day
There is not really a repair kit... The power amp module is an HCA2400 from Beringer. Their parts distributor is Fullcompass.com. I recently got an HAC2400 form them and it was damaged due to poor packaging. They are scarce. One can replace the module as it cost about $160. There are a bunch of screws to take out and 6 cables to change. The little white plastic connectors are often glued with hot melt glue and it is easy to break them so you want to cut that glue away before disengaging the connectors. It is safer to have two people to handle the top while opening the unit to avoid stretching cables. Repair of the blown module takes great skill as circuit board is usually burned and it has to be ground away and re-insulated and jumpers installed replacing blown traces that have to be removed. The circuit board is multi-layer and the internal damage is often not obvious. The parts distribution for Behringer parts is NOT working well and is very slow to get parts... in the order of two months... The amp module fails by an arc between an internal trace and a surface trace of the board. One has to grind away this "cancer" and then insulate and replace the circuitry with jumpers of hookup wire. There are usually 3 transistors to 5 that blow per channel and a handlful of other parts. If the power supply goes as well, that about doubles the work with great expenditure of time to replace the IGBGT transistors on two heat sinks (you have to remove the heatsinks to get at a mounting screw.
