Please connect front audio cable with motherboard in the a audio port of motherboard. If we work with sound card then connect front audio cable with sound card.
I got the same annoying message about the front audio after installing a sound card and plugging the front audio into it instead of the motherboard. Shorting the pins as shown in that last post didn't make the error message go away for me. I did manage to make it go away with a 1K resistor as shown here (excuse the crude MS Paint drawing.) I believe these can be purchased at Radio Shack. I used a female connector from an old computer with the wires pulled out to achieve this connection. Hope this helps.
Exactly this solution helped me with HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT PC motherboard.Thank you! I used 200 Ohm resistor and actually i think it can be simply short cut, but i am not sure.
why not go to BIOS and disable onboard audio, bing done.
all PC by this maker Ive seen have a disable in BIOS,
in fact the cards are an option new at HP,
all HP and Dells both get upset if you remove front panel assemblies, sound for sure , main for sure and USB too sometimes. even freezes with F1 errors.
learn to set BIOS correctly first.
sound chip DISABLED.
Ik heb de audioverbindingsstekker op het moederbord (achteraan naast de voeding) los getrokken en er goed weer opgedrukt. Klaar

You have a problem with HP connectivity. When I moved my dx7100 motherbard into another casing I experienced that error and also chassis fan not detected error. Chassis fan error is easy to remove, You only need a fan with at least 3 cables (with sensor) and plug it into 4 pin chassis fan connector. Audio conector have 10 pins (eight pin missing for orientation (with followed numerication
2 4 6 10
1 3 5 7 9
If you only want to get rid of the error ( with no use of back audio(use of another soundcard)) then short pins 2 and 7. But if you want to use back connectors, then you must bridge with jumpers 1-3 for microfone, 5-6 for audio L and 9-10 for audio R.
I've bee searched thru internet and didn't find this trick anywere.
thank you so much,i've been searching for an anwer for hours without any solution until i found this. you are a genius!!
not function at my case :(
it works! super, tank you very much
For HP DC7900 you have to short pins 7 and 9.

check inside the case to see that nothing bad has happened to the cables connecting these items, also check the usb ports for any damage,go into device manager and search for new hardware,it may find them and install what it needs ,if all else fails, you might need to go get a bios upgrade , this may fix the problem.
after that and still have the problem, its most likely the motherboard
good luck
