How do I install a moen mason towel bar?

Do the tips come off? Is it possible that the bar slides through the brackets? Most high end hardware has very small Allen screws to mount it. If not, go to Moen website for instructions or a phone number

How can I remove 24"

for most towel bar and bath accessories there is a very small screw or allan bolt, located on the underside of the post, which holds the post to the mounting hardware and you can simply unscrew it to remove the post and then remove the hardware w/a screwdriver (usually phillips) saying that...i just looked up the installation instructions for moen towel bars and it says very specifically that the posts snap or click into place on the mounting hardware...it also refers to a square hole located on the underside of the post. perhaps we are meant to put a small flat head screw driver in there to release the "clip" and post. here are the installation instructions: http://www.faucetdirect.com/mediabase/specifications/yb2218_5624sp.pdf
hope this helps:)

How do I find the wall bracket to attached bathroom hardware to?

conniesieber-

To locate wood framing in the wall you will need an electronic "stud-finder", which can detect the relative change in density of materials within the wall and will sound an alarm when those materials are encountered. However, the odds the framing is exactly where you want to hang the towel bar is slim. Another option is to use anchors - there are different types of anchors for drywall, for lath and plaster, and for tile/tileboard. There are anchors that will work for your specific application.

The folks at your local hardware store will make sure you get the right type of anchor. Then follow the instructions that come with the anchors and the towel bar.

If you need further instructions as you proceed, don't hesitate to reply to this message and I will try to answer your questions.

Hope this helps.

I have a franklin towel bar and the mounting bracket broke at the screw hole. is there replacement mounting brackets avaible?

Probably not, but if they sell a toilet paper holder of the same style the bracket might be identical to the towel holder, but would be cheaper than buying a new towel bar. Good luck, Al K

I need to remove a Moen towel bar. It has a tab under the bottom but I dont know what to do

There should be a "set-screw" (a very small screw) at the bottom of base (fat part) of the towel bar. It screws in to hold the fat part of the bar to the "tab". Loosen the screw by turning it counter-clock-wise. Once loose, the towel bar will lift off the tab. Be careful not to lose the screw!

The left bracket/brace is off the wall. There is one long screw in the back center. How is this put back together?

There should be a small screw in each of the arms that secure the towel bar to the wall mounts. You will need to loosen each of these to remove the towel bar from the wall and to release the mounting bracket which has pulled free. To repair you need to puchase a larger size moly plug, toggle mount or other suitable hardware to secure the mounting bracket to the sheetrock wall (should not have pulled free is screwed in to the stud). Once you secure the mounting bracket then you are able to re-install the towel bar by placing the arms over the mounting brackets and tightening the small screws on each arm of the towel bar.

Here are a couple of videos which should help you undesrtand how towel bars are installed. Hope this is helpful. (do not delete) utube.png Here is a couple of videos that should help understand how towel bars

Trying to hang gatco channel towel bar. there are no studs what size hole should I drill? I lost my directions.

Go to Home Depot, hardware or Plumbing isle,, tell them you want to hang a towel bar and you want some self drilling wall studs rated larger than or equal to 10 pounds. bring one of the screws from your Towel bar kit.

How can I attach a ceramic towel bar inside a tub surround without drilling through the surround? I was thinking about a good water proof glue. Any suggestions??

You could use a good water proof glue but that would only work for a short while. What kind of material is the surrounding made of? Ceramic towel bars are normally set in ceramic surroundings. If you really must have this towel bar you may have to cut two squares out of the surrounding and put in two ceramic tiles, that way you can put ceramic on ceramic.

How to Install Towel Bar?

Since towel bars are usually installed onto separate hardware that's mounted on the walls, use the actual hardware as a template to mark exactly where to drill your mounting holes. Hold a piece of mounting hardware against the masking tape and use your pencil to mark the actual spots to drill your holes. Use different-sized drill bits to drill for the two ends. The Molly bolt or wall anchor will require a much larger diameter hole than the screws going directly into the stud. (The size of the hole required for the wall fastener will be marked on the packaging.) Install the wall fastener into the wall, then mount the hardware onto the wall and place the ends of the towel bar over the hardware. Attach the towel bar to the mounting hardware using the screws included with the towel bar. These are commonly small-slotted screws located on the bottom of the end pieces of the towel bar.
